@declan Not really. Two strokes are not made anymore for this reason, they're oily.
To me it looks like the oring needs replacing.
The exhaust should be dripping from the expansion chamber usually.
I'm sure someone will disagree, but when it comes to oil, I'd rather run a little more than a little less.
That post the other day may interest you as it is possible that the little bush can wear out causing excessive play in the powevalve housing.
It could be this as well.
@Calum the left side don't smoke much I thought the right side was smoking badly but that was because of my header leak that was causing me to think this, when I got the head back from the shop it was the first time I had ever seen a powervalve never mind install one so it's possible that I incorrectly installed something on the left side as I used no images or instructions when doing so

Can't really go wrong mate. Two halves only go in one way. Then a bush with an oring and the pulley and end caps.
Use AJ Sutton exploding diagrams if you need reference.
To be honest, the DTR DTRE engines are pretty much the same so fitment of exhaust pipes will be fine.
It's just the frame mountings are different.

@Calum then mine must be bent I'll fetch a hammer to it and see what I can do can you show me a pic of your bike btw I just want to show it someone
-
@declan I don't have one handy. It's all in my project thread.
Uhmm a hammer isn't going to fix the issue bud.
It's ally so it's not going to like hammer hitting to it.
It's probably just the O-ring needs renewing bud.

@Calum the exhaust is bent so my only chance is hitting it I'll use a rubber mallet not a hammer
-
@declan Oh I thought you meant you were going to hit hte powervalve lol.
Hitting it with a hammer probably won't do it much good.
You need to heat it up and bend it. oxy acetylene will get it hot enough to bend itback

Well it's broken isn't it.
I will ask that this is a separate problem and as such should be placed within the appropriate section, rather than reeds.
There are suppose to mount the exhaust to the frame with a rubber dampener. I guess Yamaha would be the place to get another one.
I never ran that one to be honest anyway.
