Be careful bud, that thing sounds like an absolute animal.

Aww shame about the DTX, but sounds far too tame for you bud.

That EXC should be nice though.

What I would like is the Honda CBR250RR which is just insane little bike...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXt7fQsDsk8

    Things are sounded good.

I'd really REALLY like an NSR250 or NSR500 or anything that's twin 2stroke road going, I remember watching a video of the old moto 2 stroke 500ccs and them just wheeleing off the tiniest bit of power lol

What happened to the DTX bud?

Nice looking bikes as well bud.

    Was that a 600 GSXR?

    I liked the Rizla graphics.

    Alright buddy,

DTX went at the beginning of the year. I did a few bits to it then sold it. Then went and got a Kawasaki Ninja ZX7RR for a while, then swapped that for a Ninja ZX6R, which I then swapped for this KTM.

The gixxer is a k3 1000cc, power commander, full race exhaust system, extensive engine work, uprated clutch etc. Pushing just shy of 200bhp. Managed almost 200mph on saturday night Hahaha

Could be a spark issue too, it sounds asif the spark is being retarded at that point. Could be the cap or the coil breaking down and then working again at high revs! Just a suggestion

So this is as it stands now. This is how it came from the previous owner after someone smashed it up for displaying EDL in the reg. EDL for those who don't know stands for English Defence League. So people don't take kindly to it being displayed.

So that's how it stands as of today. I have a WR swingarm and WR shock coming which should beef up the look of the rear a little bit, then it's onto YZ forks, Supermoto wheels and tidying up some wiring, new headlight, new fatbars and grips, some decent levers and perches and mounting the KOSO dash that was installed when I got the bike 🙂

All sorted now mate. Turns out the bottom end was flooded due to poo spark and the spark was the issue due to a fault in the kill switch. I've since done away with the kill switch and she's back to life! Gutted that it took so long cos the weekend was lovely and could have taken her out. Ah well, it's all working again so I can go ahead with replacing parts that I hate and modifying to suit me 😏😏😏

    Hello,

So I thought I would start a build thread on my 06/07 DTRE/DTR. I say DTRE/DTR because the frame, plastics, tank and electrics are RE, but the engine and the 170cc kit are from a DTR. So no electric start, kick start only! (I prefer it).

So the background for this bike. I swapped it for a 2011 YZFR125 with 11k miles on the clock that I got from my girlfriends cousin. He had crashed it a few times so was looking worse for wear. I took it for a ride and hated every second of it so got home and looked for someone to swap with.

Cue this guy commenting telling me that he had a DTRE125 he wanted rid of, I couldn't contain my excitement after reminiscing about my old DTR125 SUMO.

So this brings us to now, that was my old DTR and I fucking loved it and hated it at the same time. Was a piece of shit and my favourite thing in the world all rolled into one. Blew it up countless times over the 2 years of owning it. Paid 1200 for it in enduro trim and spent another 400 or so on YZ forks and SUMO wheels.

This is the DTR/RE I have now. Some pics are from the old owner so I apologise for their shit quality.

So that was it up until Friday just gone when the bike got me to work and home, then wouldn't start again. I've changed the plug, cleaned the carb, checked all earths and switches. My problem is this, the bike will spark whether the ignition is on or off and whether or not the kill switch is on or off. I know bikes well enough to know it shouldn't be doing that. So I have a weak yellow spark and the bike will not fire for love nor money. Plus is wet with fuel and I even changed to a fresh plug.

It's not an issue i've come across before so I have no idea how to overcome it.

That's how it sits now, not starting and slowly but surely pissing me off

I had a 'full power' NSR foxeye j22 j think it was. Although I never had any problems like yours, the powervalve would stop working all the time and would retard the engine. Sounds similar to what you're experiencing, I just ended up pinning the valve wide open and it never gave me an issue again.

I'm not saying this is your solution, but it would be something I would take a look at regarding the running issues. With regards to PSI and compression, definitely check everything is bolted down to correct torque settings. Double check everything, make sure the carb is installed tight, no air leaks, proper float movement and clear jets. I know it's all simple stuff but sometimes stuff gets overlooked and it's the simplest thing that's stopping the bike from working.

    Alright you slags.

Used to own this. Supermoto'd DT125R 2003. DTX wheels, YZ forks, cut plastics, pinned valve. I blew it up countless times. My all time favourite bike.
    https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/t31.0-8/477108_582763248421301_1423933556_o.jpg

then this.. NSR125. Gash red rim tape, pinned valve, full arrow system. Good for about 115mph

Then I got lucky and came into some money, so did my test and went proper supermoto with this. CCM R30 660cc. DR650 engine bored to 660 (more reliable than the 640 rotax engine they did in some of the CCMS.), Supermoto wheels, black plastics and some led DRLs.
    Started life like this.

I then swapped it for a 1995 GSXR750 oil cooled WS model.

Hi, I'm Carlos. I'm 28, from Woking, Surrey AND I FUCKING LOVE BIKES.

That brings us to now, and I'm back where I belong with another DT. This ones a 2006 DT125RE with an Athena 170 kit and fresh as fuck engine. Fox graphics, custom exhaust and FMF shorty tailpipe. Needs some work for sure.
    https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/wl/t35.0-12/10573298_962709437100184_1410445887_o.jpg?oh=4302e98f5d5b27a82b55fb0ee21e5140&oe=56E33686

    Plans are as follows.

    • Supermoto wheels
    • YZ USD fork conversion (Much the same as my old DT)
    • New plastics
    • Chain and sprocket kit
    • Renthal fat bars
    • Grips and levers
    • New cables and fluids
    • Mount headlight correctly

Anyway, nice to meet you all (Y)
