Also got me thinking about that high mileage bike you had maybe it had a slightly diff sprocket setup or something or just a blessed engine my current one pulls so nice with a larger front sprocket I took the Keeway out for a test drive today and man its slow af compared to my DT rid it like a 2t lol trying to get it warmed up but rekon it only hit 40 max on my street my DT would happily hit 60 here hehe can't wait to get her mot'd but really itching to get the TZR running right and having a proper go of her before I decide to keep or part with her do really want the hat trick with a 90s TDR as well though a French import like you had would be the icing tbh

I used to have a rockhopper sport my fave ride and later a Rockhopper FS oversized both 90s models I also used to work in the local Specialized dealer so had to build Stumps etc on the daily for customers such lovely bikes really wish I could have an old XTR equipped model. Got an old 93 Marin Rocky Ridge atm I try to take out now n then for the nostagia bagged a pair of RockShox at a car boot one year for 2 quid haha made it a real nice ride
Thanks for the advice on the mono thought as much ive not the funds right now for a YSS and left it intact for now as mot due got it booked for Thurs only to buy new tyres n find the front rim rotted inside out so managed to get fresh rubber in there for mot day hoping she wont blow only a mile away then hopefully some luck will come my way and i'll find a new front wheel for her gutted as threw a perfectly good rim away last year with a nice tyre just had a chip out the hub where bearing decided not to come out.
I'll read properly through your post again as today been a day and yeh not done tht shock or rear tyre icase more things need doing for mot be nice to have some cash i'm currently trying to fix my daughters BWs for her CBT and thats been neglected sine the late 90s and needs at least a whole new CVT train and forks. To many project right now n don't have the health cash or time to sort.

And ask if anyone else from my patch would be interested in giving this old timer a hand with an old TZR 4HW and DTR 93 as since having a stroke im not as good with mechanical things as I used to be.I also have some spare parts like tzr panels n some bits of dt stuff i'll have a look through n put on here for any one in need.

Hi from SW UKIsit shaft driven cant see a chain hehe still looks clean m8 yeh this rust is starting to really anoy me but compared to a 3 year old keeway in my yard my bikes are so much cleaner n less rusty glad there Jap and not chinese.
Gota get my swing arm done had a nice few rusty patches on it for years that I just grease up n seems to stop it spreading think its only surface tbh.
Did get the DT up on a stand today was gonna get shocker off but daughter wanted to get out on her bike so least its ready for when tyres come the old man said he could probly rebuild the shocker as he works in an engine rebuild place so will hopefully have tools to do it just hope it is rebuild able as couldnt see without removing it and already had the TZR half stripped to test that CDI.
So as for the TZR to keep you updated took a while to start ive made a post about that and the CDI I got here which I think is a Sachs it has a M printed on the side and missing that blue wire and looks like the black connector is female and the one on the engine is female and also didnt look like the wires would reach so sackd it off for today think I will have to make up an extension loom n worried that oil light being on might fail its mot. Least got to clean her up a little on some hidden parts
Mrs just returned with daughter and the BWS cut out a few times fml lol seemed to work fine for me bringing back in though that one of my next can of worms to sort glad she managed to get a few miles on it though and said there was a few learners down the industrial estate and managed to get a few rides with cars on the road next to her so she can get used to that.

Hi from SW UKLooks tidy that nice one Calum making me a bit jealous cause yours look so tidy spent the day showing my daughter the DT n TZR n they both rusted up all the bits we striped blasted n painted knew shoulda just got them powdered just didnt have the funds. Getting me some ideas with your bracket as I want to move batt n coolant bottle on the TZR. On an upnote old man said I can have his pet tank off the NSR as hes got a new one hopefully that will fix my mysterious whys the no petty in the NSR issue every time we go near it as it aint coming out of the carb or leaking anywhere. And dropped a hint about those fairings I found so hopefully can swag his old set Result Bigup Hotshot what ride you rocking m8?

Hi from SW UKTrying to source them NSR fairings is the test right now I might swag them for her bike and just fix them with some filler as she will probly drop it and break them like the black ones as I think the old man will likely get brand new ones for his restoration if he ever finds a source. I used to spin around on a bulletproof rsx100 back in the day so the DTR is just pure fun when I go on it as we used to offroad lots as kids on broken mopeds n the odd YZ or CR that used to come up the track I still used to do bigger jumps and leave them standing on a Suzzy GP100 that had so much wrong with it no idea how it didnt explode lol.
I like the Tizzer naked but its got a silly bat box and coolant on the sides which is a shame I prefer it black but as the post earlier Mr postman decided to break the rear black fairings so thinking about wrapping the carbon fairings now so you can just see the camel styling under the wrap just not sure what colour to go yet.
Best get it running right first as it cut out on me last time I took it out n never wanted to start again and only ran like a 50 was like it hit the powerband n choked i'll ask about it on a fresh post soon as I test out tht cdi thanks for tht wiring looks like I was correct about it being some oil light

Hi from SW UKOh and don't worry bout the deets for the old one managed to get back in there but I wasnt very active tbh n sold tht project I was working on to get this current DT he did do a cool bananaman build with it shame I didnt get no pics but then he went n crashed it and bought one of them 4 wheel things lol just happy I got a DT that hadnt been mangled by amateurs fitted a servo and done a lil down tooth up the front n she rides nicely just needs me to get better and get out on her more

We had to import the nsr from poland as the tzr was to high up for my mrs then the day of cbt she dropped the examiners bike and never even got on the nsr shes had some mad panic attack and never done 2 strokes think she scared plus its a naughty quick lil bike.My stepdad then went and found the exact same nsr but its a limited edition one number 007 the lucky duck that hes still rebuilding after 3 years hes doing it propa unlike me had it all powder coated etc its gonna be a minter once done i'll get some pics soon of my lil convoy.
That Caggy 350 sounds like a dream build hope that goes well keep us updated i'll get on here n look for the build posts when I can cheers for the pics putting me back in my builders frame of mind so I can get all mine sorted.

Rear shock alternatives?You know thats not a bad idea i made up some gaskets that held and some stuff for a workbench and some pc feet that still hold up cant remember the name of tht printing material but had a nice spongy bounce wonder how well it would take up with the seasons though outside. What came to mind was one of them old girvin flex stem elastimers we used to have in the 90s on our mtbs but bet you cant source them either nowadays just hoping I dont ruin the bushes n stuff when I remove it still in two minds to do the front tyre and get tht mot n prey he dont notice it not as if im going to be doing jumps off road on it now theres nowhere left to ride round here. You got me thinking now though if I can stretch the spring enough and tht printing stuff holds enough for me to slip a rubber printed collar around the shaft happy days.
Your more than welcome to come and help me though bro just been reading them blog posts about couple of them builds tht RS n Yamito you got some mad skills n patience would love to restore one of mine and rebuild the engines properly i'm to impatient to rebuild the cvt on her moped lol

Rear shock alternatives?Cool will probly end up getting tht one once I got some funds as a new stock one was around 300 last time I looked its a shame and reason I asked is cause you can get a pair of rd250 shocks that look similar for 60 bux https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204948462536 and seen alot of other stuff that may fit but without having it in hand its a gamble plus ive not took the old one out yet waiting on some tyres and hoping it will go through an mot just thought ide ask incase I could pick up something for around 50 that I could bolt in before the mot.
Just checked the archives for ideas looks like most were swing arm conversions an hacking away the batt box to fit so il give that a miss for now as its a bit to much for this old git to do right now lol once the mots sorted then im not to fussed about stripping her down just got so many projects and not enough time or cash would be nice to find an apprentice to help round my end haha

4HW SmokeyEz all so managed to get my TZR started again today not had it running right at all yet it refused to fire on NGK's and only seems to start if I put my fist down the airbox breather with box off then is fine once the box is on and only works on an old nippon plug I found in a box of bits.
I have tried to adjust the oil mixture and it all looks good the spot lines up at full throttle I have tried disconnecting it and bleeding it but no matter what ive tried even a lil premix the old girls smokes thick blue smoke and is a bit intermitant on the revs once shes warm seems to rev ok but not had chance to test ride as mot has ran out.
Last time I took her out she only revved to like 7k and soon as I hit 3rd gear she bogged out and refused to start again for the day.
I have had the carb out and the plug is always wet when I remove it I also tried the dtr carb as its so close to TZR just diff jets and a diff main jet plastic spacer thing and it done exactly the same and cut out same spot in the road in 3rd gear?
Any ideas appreciated I know its probly one of them you gota be there in person to investigate things I got my daughter to do a couple of lil vids so i'll get them off her whens shes back from her ride with mum to show the amount of smoke and its engine noises.

And yeh keep hold of them collectors piece indeed are there many of these conversions about? as first I heard here from you did show one my friends and he says looks epic hes been building chops n rats for many years and says thats going to be a top ride once completed so thanks for sharing your journey with us all bro wish I had funds for another project mot failed on DT wiring and brakes its not been right since some lil menace stole it so lucky I got it back but she aint the same now.
Must be a reason for our woes must make us better in the long run or something hope some cash comes your way soon so you can get this girl on the tarmac

Should my power valve cables look like this?Just went to inspect my 93 DTR and it does have a little kink in the 1 cable not quite as much as yours did try get some pics but its behind the panel and also behind another bike and then bluetooth refuses to send to my pc haha let me know if you do need though and i'll get them uploaded hopefully Calums vid and both these lads advice gets you sorted out best of luck and really like Pinky Hope you get out on her soon happy DTR'ing
