    No pics yet been busy though got a new motor for it managed to get it all in and running but got a strange problem ive put an orig air box on it and it wont idle I have to turn the air screw all the way in otherwise it takes a little time to down rev but then if I turn the screw to the 1 5/8s its supposed to be at or any where from seated its bogs out when you rev and has erratic idle takes ages to settle and cant decide what it wants to do even with 4 or 5 screws of the idle screw in out out it doesnt make much difference to idle speed.

    So I am a bit stumped other than changing the coil pack and cdi as it went through plugs before and is now still doing something similar was fine on an 8 then it decided it didnt like that plug stalled and refused to start then did the same with another 8 I found a 7 and it starts and goes like stink when riding did 30mph up my steep hill testing it but its got that idle prob.

    So i'm going to get some new plugs try and get funds for a coil and cdi maybe a new regulator as the voltage its a lil strange charges about 13.3 on idle to start off then after a few mins only sits at around 12.5 unless you rev crap out of it it will then go to 14.4

    All fun and games any ideas welcome for me to test next time I get out to it would be appreciated. Trying to be careful and cycle it with the new piston so it beds in ok already got a strange rattle not sure if its just a bad bore settling in or a loose bit of old piston ring dancing around the crank but its whats going on with me and this lil ped for now thought ide send a quick update n ask a few questions from you seasoned vets.

    Yeh seen alot of MBK and Aerox builds that are insane them mopboyz on youtube seem to like all the stage 6 kit and do a nice overrange kit but have to cut out the casings to fit. wish I had the funds to do it all top spec but it would be well to fast and a wheelie machine haha one way to teach her to tame a bike I suppose shame aint no land to razz round on like the 80s. Did look up a lot of Vespa stuff only been on one once and always wanted one did see that theres a place now fitting electric kits to them and selling for silly money might be fun for a while but nothing beats petrol for me even if it does 0-60 in half a second lol.

    Did look at the LC kits might go for one in the future carb already has the fittings and not sure what barrel n piston to try just want it to run right now as the Mrs takes her on the back to private land to practice and the silly thing only does 10mph up hill no matter what the weight load is.

    Still can't think what forks I put on the Typhoon that was a fun bike used to nuke Scoobies off the line up till 60 and topped out around 85 just hope theres similar forks I can put on this Yammy as i'm sure they all probly share same parts either that or JB weld the pitting just another job I cba with right now and seals are still okish.

    Frame looks same bottom end on tht looks like the dtr engine I have my 4hw has no cover over the oil pump and has some kind of make shift bracket for the oil cable. Looks like they chopped my frame and put a heavy duty swingarm on for that 4DL raised the coolant tank and put bat under the seat. Thats why I asked cause surely the 4 wires from the engine are the same or do I have to change the flywheel coil bit of forget its name now. I think i'll give it a bash as I got to remove the engine anyway if the mountings are the same and it wires up maybe I can put a DT rear sprocket on.

    Food for thought ive got to get the energy to get at it first i'll look over that cdi wiring diagrams thing you shared and go from there just hope the exhaust mounts dont throw it out of whack.

    I'm hands on so once got all the parts in sight i'll hopefully make sense of it all feel free to leave suggestions etc like I said before wish I had someone here to help me out going to be fun though so hopefully will give me more incentive.

    Just wondering of you have done something similar in the past ive got that other DT engine and the bottom end looked very similar with the oil pump etc would I be able to run that in the TZR without messing with the loom or would I have to change CDI ive got a few old ones in the parts bin if that is the case was just sat thinking maybe I could chuck that engine in for time being to get her moted and then fault check the gaskets and seal on the other one? I know the gearing would be a bit different just thought ide ask before I test it out when weather n my health permits

    Just for reference ive currently got a 17.5 carb on hers with a Yasuni exhaust standard cvt that needs replacing badly carb was running a 98 on standard air box that had bad seals so took it down to the smallest i had a 75 but think thats still to much.

    I want to start at the crank so any thoughts on best crank and bearings to start her off with then onto the best overrange kit that aint stupidly expensive hoping to do it as cheap as possible as got a TZR NSR and DTR so bring back to life and havent really dabbled in moped engines in over 20 years.

    I took the jetting advice from here https://www.pedparts.co.uk/blog/introduction-to-moped-jetting as I think its the same motor i'll get some pictures soon as just seen the exhaust may have two restriction inside aswell

    Was looking at this kit https://euroscooterparts.co.uk/naraku-sport-transmission-kit-for-minarelli-long-type-50cc.html but cant find it in stock anywhere and was also hoping to find a kit like it with a full clutch too as her torque driver is all lumpy and worn out so would need that a new clutch and bell housing. So if anyone knows of such kit for under £150 that would really make my month I don't want the bike stupidly fast as its my daughters first bike and she doesnt have any experience yet so hopefully once shes used to the new stock engine this upgraded old one will be perfect to slap in there give her that extra hill speed etc.

    Think thats how its spelt just wondering of any one here has experience on these little 50s ive got my daughter a 97 BWS and hopefully found a clean engine for it as hers aint right so will slowly be rebuilding it if funds allow.

    Seen there is a wealth of information on the youtube n stuff just thought it might be an idea to ask on here so can take it slow as im getting old now and prefer interacting this way tbh.

    Also wondering if any one knows of forks that will fit as the bikes look similar and hers have pitted so need some new ones and aint much on ebay worth taking a gamble on. Got a nice pair for my old Typhoon 125 a few years back so wondering if any decent cheap aftermarkets might be a direct fit instead of rusty second hand stock ones.

    Anyways look forward to any help i'll probly ask more random questions here if I need more advice and give any advice I can where needed as there is a treasure of it somewhere in my brain that will hopefully reactivate if pushed

    Aww thats savage hope you get some good luck from it all somehow. And yeh keep hold of them collectors piece indeed are there many of these conversions about? as first I heard here from you did show one my friends and he says looks epic hes been building chops n rats for many years and says thats going to be a top ride once completed so thanks for sharing your journey with us all bro wish I had funds for another project mot failed on DT wiring and brakes its not been right since some lil menace stole it so lucky I got it back but she aint the same now.

    Must be a reason for our woes must make us better in the long run or something hope some cash comes your way soon so you can get this girl on the tarmac 🙂

    Just went to inspect my 93 DTR and it does have a little kink in the 1 cable not quite as much as yours did try get some pics but its behind the panel and also behind another bike and then bluetooth refuses to send to my pc haha let me know if you do need though and i'll get them uploaded hopefully Calums vid and both these lads advice gets you sorted out best of luck and really like Pinky 🙂 Hope you get out on her soon happy DTR'ing

    Also got me thinking about that high mileage bike you had maybe it had a slightly diff sprocket setup or something or just a blessed engine my current one pulls so nice with a larger front sprocket I took the Keeway out for a test drive today and man its slow af compared to my DT rid it like a 2t lol trying to get it warmed up but rekon it only hit 40 max on my street my DT would happily hit 60 here hehe can't wait to get her mot'd but really itching to get the TZR running right and having a proper go of her before I decide to keep or part with her do really want the hat trick with a 90s TDR as well though a French import like you had would be the icing tbh

    Bless you @HOTSHOT-III sounds a bit like my story them are some beautiful rides shame you didnt get to ride the restoration n thanks for repying I hear you on the dismissive peeps one the reasons I work for free and help every time I can just fixed up a dangerous 3 year old keeyway for free for my daughter sbf MOT tomo so hopefully she passes if not I know ive made it 1000x safer.

    I used to have a rockhopper sport my fave ride and later a Rockhopper FS oversized both 90s models I also used to work in the local Specialized dealer so had to build Stumps etc on the daily for customers such lovely bikes really wish I could have an old XTR equipped model. Got an old 93 Marin Rocky Ridge atm I try to take out now n then for the nostagia bagged a pair of RockShox at a car boot one year for 2 quid haha made it a real nice ride 🙂

    Thanks for the advice on the mono thought as much ive not the funds right now for a YSS and left it intact for now as mot due got it booked for Thurs only to buy new tyres n find the front rim rotted inside out so managed to get fresh rubber in there for mot day hoping she wont blow only a mile away then hopefully some luck will come my way and i'll find a new front wheel for her gutted as threw a perfectly good rim away last year with a nice tyre just had a chip out the hub where bearing decided not to come out.

    I'll read properly through your post again as today been a day and yeh not done tht shock or rear tyre icase more things need doing for mot be nice to have some cash i'm currently trying to fix my daughters BWs for her CBT and thats been neglected sine the late 90s and needs at least a whole new CVT train and forks. To many project right now n don't have the health cash or time to sort.

    Hope your in better shape now if you get out on the Stumperz have a few back wheel hops n endos for me lad haha stay safe n thanks for the awesome reply.
    PS if you have a 17 or lower spare mtb frame that would fit some retro gear ide be happy to take it off your hands my Marins a 19 incher n a bit to high for me little legs hehe or maybe a swap if you got something n fancy something different.

    No way learn something new glad it got him home safe. Something they should teach at school I rekon we would have so many more decent engines still living if the kids knew you dont just ride n hope it last forever.

    And guess your more likely to hear about the downfalls of something like with me and the RS nylons failing than it actually being a good idea. Ive never been lucky enough to be in environments to help me learn about engine internals n stuff spent most my life fixing others mistakes or taking stuff part to see how it works than actually learning properly served me well just wish I had a few more ppl around me to learn and help out with. My dads always bogged under with car work n lost my best friend a few years back its nice now that 2 of my kids are taking an interest hopefully can clear some of these old parts make room so we can all rebuild stuff together as seen some sick moped builds ide like to test on her lil yammy once shes had enough experience to handle a lil more power

    All the chat I ever heard about them RS was a nylon gear or something and ppl gettin over 120 out of them ide be happy doing 80 tbh had 100 once outa a small bike and wernt as fun as expected good job it didnt blow on me tryin to explain to my boy it aint about huge wheelies top speed and jumps its about the riding and just enjoying the freedom seems to be seeping in lost to many a brother to being silly on bikes but you gota be a lil silly now n then shhh dont tell him i said that haha.
