@calum I respect your knowledge but I’m 100% on the reed valves and compression and the coolant leak I’ve had since i rebuilt it and didn’t have the correct hose clamps so it weeps

Study that image and tell me how that could possibly be the case.

The piston shuts off the intake air way, so it's not possible for air to go anywhere near there.

Although that said, they were invented for a reason.

Yeah maybe you're right and I'm wrong on this one.

That is a really useful picture though and I will leave me comment.

I really don't know everything lol.

If you look at the image.

The reed valve helps store charge in the crank journals, so I guess if they don't operate properly then you will force charge back into intake.

@declan Yeah that doesn't sound right lol.

            Can you upload a photo?

Where did you get the reeds?

Pretty sure they cannot be installed incorrectly.

No? I said an engine I'm building, I didn't say it was for a DT lol.

I am running the hy-tech carbon ones.

But you get what you pay for as with most things in life.

The boyesen ones come with stoppers which is why they're a little more pricey, but I would rather wait and save than buy something inferior as it's something you will only need to buy once.

@calum I’ve read about the stoppers can you tell me more about them? And I assumed you wouldn’t tease me with v-force reeds but that’s clearly the case😒

@declan Bah, gimmick if you ask me. Can't see how V Force would make such a massive difference, but the engine I am building has them readily available so why not.

I don't know what the stoppers are, I presumed they were the things that stop the reeds from opening so wide that they either snap, or remain open for the combustion phase.

Either way the boyesen seem to offer them with their reeds so why not grab them both.

@calum pulled it apart I can’t post pics but the reeds are mostly closed except for one which was open sometimes it closes and others it don’t and the rest are really weak whereas my am6 reeds look new and are really snappy so I’m gonna change em when I get the dollar and the cable had come out of the notch inside the slide of the carb I’m guessing that’s my fault as I put a strong spring in and was hard to get the cable in so I’ve cut it down to the correct tension I’ve found electrical issue I’ll create a post thank you.
