General a/f adjustment

My other bike not a dt was running rich so I tried adjusting the air screw got it to nearly perfect maybe a little lean but after a bit the bike wouldn’t idle on its own so I re set the screw still nothing then backed it out and perfect again but then stopped idling and then started red lining I had to pull the plug that was with the screw almost all the way out needle clip in the slightly lean position anyone have anything to add?
