Hi guys, has anyone changed the sealed bearing that sits behind the gear selectors 'star'? Does the weld need removing?
    Many thanks

@calum thanks mate, I'll give that a try when I'm back in the UK. As far as I can remember the selector is a solid item. Have you changed one on the DT? Or just the aprillia?

It's listed as one part, very stupid design if it can't be removed separately.
Reason is I'm building a spare 200cc engine with my new 3xp cylinder

@louis-james Oh yeah, you sure it's not journal bearing?

I've ordered all new transmission bearings from a local company but I didn't order this one as can't remove it.

All coming back to me now.

Mate, honestly there is no load on that bearing it shouldn't wear. I only replaced mine cause the connecting rod shot through the case and the bearing was rough. But the bearing travels less than 360 degrees in any direction. But it doesn't look serviceable.

@calum that's what I thought, might out it in a lathe to take weld off then press bearing off and reweld after new one is installed

@louis-james Has your bearing failed? I'd just get another one, given that you can get them for less than a 10er.

I'm not sold on the welding idea personally.

@calum not really, this "running" engine I bought has water in cases and rusted the bearings, even though this is a sealed bearing, water does get in eventually. Also so many bolts, washers and nuts were missing or incorrect size. Found a whole base gasket in the clutch cover ! Oil pump was siezed but managed to salvage the casings and a few other bits. New final drive shaft was needed so ordered one. I'll get some pictures up when cases are bored and ported then hard anodised.

@louis-james I take it this selector drum is different to the 125 drum.
