A2 Legal Bikes
-
So I'm searching for some expertise lol
I'm 19 and when we are allowed to do bike tests again I'm going to do my A2 license.
So I'm looking to get a bigger bike (not get rid of the DT of course!) but struggling to find something that would be suitable. I'm only 5"3' and weigh nothing so anything too big means I'll probably end up dropping it if I loose my balance at any point. I'm into sports tourers and want something I'd be able to do the North Coast 500 on next year, but it needs to be small and A2 legal. Perhaps a 400 would be about right?
If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know?

Get a KTM 300EXC
I would say KTM duke 390, but a decent 125 two stroke is faster...
-
Suzuki DRZ 400 SM is good for a short arse like yourself, and itโs cracking do it all motorcycle
-
@Darty Yeah I dunno? Is it? Bit slow ain't they?
The KTM is lighter and makes more power.
God I dislike the new 4 stroke bikes/
Could get a 1989 Yamaha SDR200
Lighter and makes a smidgen less power, but would be much more smiles per miles. Bet it's faster too!

@Darty Brakes? They just slow you down, don't worry about that.
I dislike KTM really. Too expensive and I am poor! I like Aprilia because you get a lot for the money.
I do like those KTMs though. Would love to drop a smoker engine into that chassis.

SDR would be my vote but thin on the ground but similar money to the other bikes listed

I mean, it's 152KG, as opposed to 116kg DTR. And it only makes 26hp. So it will be slower than a DTR.
But looks smart!

Old Hondo VFR400, if you can find one these days. My tuppnies worth

Yeah, they is diddly

@Calum I failed so unfortunately it's got to sit in the garage a little longer...
Still 40kg heavier is better than 80kg cause I wouldn't be able to pick that up if I dropped it lol
and yeah the acceleration won't be like travelling through warp speed like it is on the DT, but at least it will sit at 75 without being on the limiter!

I am very happy with my buzzing Aprilia. That will glide along at 90 and scream to 100+ (indicated it's Italian so take that with a pinch of salt).
Either way, it's fast enough for me. I only ride locally.
Sorry to hear that you failed
