Hey guys
I have yz 85 2003 and I didn’t know where else to find this out so here I am.
I’m just wondering what the cylinder is coated, I’d it’s coated at all. As I need to get bored out and I was asked what it’s coated or lined in. So if anyone knows what it’s coated in or anything like that please let me know
Cheers guys -

If because of wear/damage then have it recoated, if you are just looking to go bigger then it’s a big bore kit, try Athena I think they do 112cc barrel direct replacement

Nickel plated ok. I bought a rebuild kit and the piston is a fraction too big and I can’t seem to find a smaller one. So ur saying if I bored it out I’d need to replace it, is it ?
Thanks Oisín -

So it's quite common for people to drop steel liners into the bores.
Plating is obvious as the cylinder walls will be very thin.

So what would ye recommend I do. I can get it bored out but I don’t know if I could get it plated, at least not for too cheap. Would I be better to buy a new cylinder and piston from Alixpress or somewhere like that. What would be the best way forward, looking for some advice

You can opt to have a steel liner placed i. Situe. But the plating needs to be removed. In any event this is costly but saves money when it comes to rebore.
My advice, get it replated if it needspplating £130 from poeton.
