    Hi there. There is a problem with my DTX that is going to make me crazy. One day, kill switch button (red one that power off the bike) failed. I thought that it was dirty and it needed a clean up (it happened before with the hazards lights switch). I dissasembled it and give it a nice clean/sanding but it doesnt work. Just the grey button works (starting button). I bought another one identical from aliexpress bc in Yamaha Parts they wanted to charge me 100€ (??????????) so I bought this one.

    Wiring diagram

    The original diagram from the dt kill switch has the 4 colors in the right (pink ones). I painted a pink wire with a little bit of black to differentiate it from the other pink wire (they are identical). The left ones are from the aliexpress switch. I try every combination of wires but everything is the same.
    The problem is that red button doesn't work in any condition. It doesn't cut of the bike when is pressed, and the bike can start when the red button is on or its off. Whats the problem ? How can I connect each wire from the aliexpress switch to the wiring? I can't think more solutions. The original switch and the aliexpress switch makes the same error. Can someone help me ? Thanks!!!
    PD: sorry for my bad english, trying to improve everyday without the help of google translate haha. If I said something wrong tell me to learn πŸ™‚

    @jaimegonzalezlu

    Kill switch is just two wires. Follow them back to the loom. It sounds like a wire is broken inside the insulation.

    The kill switch basicly earths the coil. I’d use the original switch gear...

        @jaimegonzalezlu
        it’s a black wire with yellow stripe (I think) that shares a connector with the ignition barrel, And a plain black earth wire...

        It is on my 1988 Dtr anyway 😜

                  @spookdog Yes it does. The problem was the wires that connect into the clutch in the handlebar. I don't know why, and what are those wires, but it cause a problem with the kill switch. I removed them and all its good. Problem solved

                      @jaimegonzalezlu

                      The clutch sensor is part of a kill circuit iirc. I thought only electric start bikes had them though...

                      P.S thanks for letting people know it’s fixed, as well as how. It helps people searching for something similar, problem wise πŸ™‚πŸ‘

                        It's a DTX (2005) so yeah, it has electric starter.
                        Ty for your answers. I hope that this post help someone else. That's the point of forums πŸ™‚
