@declan I will take it out on you, I don't use auto correct as it is just lazy. Hence why my replies on my Tablet ARE JUST AWFUL LOL!

Also you see it everywhere and it's one of those really silly things that really "Grinds my Gears"

I get you though mate, my pet hates are "defiantly" instead of definitely and the usual their, there, they're all mixed up!

@ricky0115 As for the only running on choke issue, maybe get the carb stripped and ultrasonically cleaned at a shop? Cost me ยฃ30 when I rebuilt my bike

@finnerz89 I think Britain has slipped down the food chain enough, we need to redeem ourselves by enforcing correct grammar, or at least as good as can be. I mean jeez, there are people in China that speak/write better English than people I know, it's just embarrassing ha.

From the vague description @ricky0115 has provided, it sounds more to me like the carb just needs setting up.

@calum true, I spell check our breakdown log at work on a daily basis as it does my nut in!

I thought his bike was running previously so assumed the carb had gummed up between his top end going and him fitting the new engine.
          Definitely something simple I think.

@declan The bearings on the old engine are squashed square somehow. Meh I really would just swap it for a 50cc moped right now lol I don't deserve this.

                          Can we just stop lol.

ANY BIKE will give you hell if it's been treated like shit.

You can't blame a bike for an owners poor maintenance or understanding, okay maybe a Chinese bike.

But a decent like the DTR doesn't behave erratically for no reason.

I'm totally with @declan on this.

These DT engines are properly bullet proof. I can't tell you how much abuse I have seen these engines take. From seizes to bore wash, to even jet wash. I've seen a lot.

Open up a thread. Describe the problem and let us help.

Throwing money after money on this isn't going to fix the bike. Finding the problem will.

If the engine runs, the bore has compression, then the engine will start and ride fine.

Open up a thread, post the problem and I will answer it.

@ricky0115 Buying a Haynes manual is a very good investment indeed, they are a goldmine of useful tips to help you fix lots of problems. Anything mechanical will wear out and break down over time, poor maintenance from previous owners aids this greatly. If you are having difficulty diagnosing the problem, then just guessing and throwing money at it will ultimately not solve that problem. Having a sound-board like this forum is a well of experienced bikers, whom have a wealth of knowledge to assist you. However, sometimes it is better to admit defeat and get a reputable mechanic to fix the problem for you. Usually that works out cheaper in the long run, albeit dependent on what the issue is? Once the bike is running fine, regular maintenance will keep her purring!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
