      One cheap one "expensive"?
I guess the thinner is the more expensive.
      Interesting though.

        Gudgeon pins https://imgur.com/gallery/qjjsHsU

So I'm also comparing the different gudgeon pins, one is 1mm linger and thinner. (It came with the forged original piston and thinner needle bearing).

Is thinner stuff a sign of better quality in this case?

Never really looked into it to be fair.

The load on the gudgeon and small end probably is not that great when compared with the crank pin.

I'd ensure you use the small end for that gudgeon. And never reuse gudgeon's and small ends, for their cost they are jut easy to renew.
