Spedo face
-
Hi all, 92 DT125r nut n bolt project slowly moving onwards & most parts have been fairly easy to source. Probs gonna find it tough but cannot find anywhere that might have an MPH spedometer face, looks like someone tried to clean my one at some point & the paint has gone. Any pointers hugely appreciated. Tried the usual ebay etc.

@Phil-k I'm quite sure that AliExpress sells dtr Speedo too, if being a copy bothers you that much then you could just use the face to replace yours and keep/sell the rest for spares or option 2, a professional sign writer/printers would be able to make a transfer or stencil to cover yours. I'm sure it could be printed out on a clear or black or actually any colour background and that would probably be the cheapest and quickest option and they'd probably make an even better job than the Chinese copy (not that I think there's anything wrong with them). I would find a sign writer/printing shop and take your clock face and a picture of what it should look like.

Thanks chaps. Had a look at the cheapo Chinese ones & probably do the job I reckon, might have to source a decent set of MPH stickers to add to it as I'll be sending it back home to the UK. So many other none original bits (decals, gaiters etc.) it's not really gonna make a huge difference. Thought about changing the facia but the rest of the unit is pretty shabby so may look a bit odd. 3 month wait for delivery!! but plenty to be getting on with.

@Phil-k DTR speedo's are as rare as rocking horse shit, you would be very very very lucky to find one anywhere. You can try some of the DT breakers listed on this thread;

Or just get a new Chinese KPH clock set from here;

Thanks Ninja. After thinking a bit I'm actually going to try Markus's suggestion and knock one up in photoshop. I will hi res scan the original and redo the black background and numbers etc. and hunt out a vinyl printing place. The things that have put me off the chino KPH clock is maybe the cable gearing will need an adaptor? & the bike has a recorded 14k miles & it'd be nice to keep that. I will do a b4 and after regardless of success or fail.

I needed an mph one for my 200WR and ended up fitting one from a UK DT-RE/X which was a straight swap for the JDM kph one it came with. Not sure if these are any good for the older DT's or not though

Worth noting that when I had a look the aliexpress ones are electric operated I think
