Day 1: 40 mile shakedown has shown no problems. Barrel & piston is a lot better condition/fit than the previous one, but by no means new. Choosy Beggars and wotnot š
Rehoned the barrel before fitting so am being gentle with the revs to let the rings settle. Nothing above 6000rpm⦠-
Howdy, I'd love to answer your question but my tachometer does not function. If I fix it or get a digital guage I will let you know!
These are the first pics of the Romeu Henrique stainless steel expansion chamber and tailpipe/serviceable muffler that I brought in Dec. I will take pics when itās fitted to the bikeā¦

Also below, there are the progressive fork springs. Shown next to a standard springā¦

The 27mm hex tool (1/2 inch drive) that I got for Ā£25 to dismantle the fork bottoms without drama! š fitted to a 1/2inch extension bar (2 needed to reach inside fork)ā¦

With the fork bottom inners. The inners undid with very little effortā¦

One of the fork bottom Allen bolts came out eventually. Iād already nearly rounded off the head before I removed the inner with the 27mm tool bit, so it needs replacingā¦
The second one is still stuck in the fork bottom as you can see. The head is rounded off badly and needs heat and banging out from inside, which is now possible since removing the inner with the 27mm tool bit. Itās corroded into the fork bottom because of the dissimilar metals and the tiny gap between themā¦
Iām waiting on a new blowtorch since my old one ha given up the ghost!ā¦
Iāve gotten new bottom bolts, seals and bushes (top & bottom) to go with the springs. So the forks should be as good as new when done and powder coatedā¦

@SpookDog Pipe looks well smart!

Cheers bud, my mistook š
Also in pics are the 400 x 18 & 90/90 x 21 Kenda tyres I brought for the spring. Iām running on Kendaās at the moment and they are way better than the Ā£100 Pirelli mtās that I was using beforeā¦Also I wanted to say that the carbon ceramic Brembo brake pads have stood the test of time and are still performing absolutely top notch! Wet or dry they are a lot better than the EBC pads I used to run before. Well worth the Ā£24ā¦

@SpookDog Yeah 100%, I found the Brembo pads well worth their money! I've got a few sets under the bed waiting for a project in th future.
Dunno if this will work but the Japanese exotica arrived last month

The exhaust Fitted without needing any real fuckin around. Changed the tailpipe mount bolt from 13mm to 10mm and didnāt use the rubber mount at the front of the frame, just bolts straight onto. Also the mount above the battery isnāt used and no rubber join is neededā¦

Will be taking for a run tomorrow, if not tonight! š
It may be my imagination, but the bike is ticking over so much stronger/smoother from cold than before with the Big 1 exhaustā¦It sounds sweet as well āļø

Didnāt get a real chance to check it out tonight, cause by the time I went far enough to get it properly up to temp it started absolutely pissing it down. Iām still running/bedding in the rings from the re~hone I did when I replaced the head gasket a few weeks ago as wellā¦
What I can say is it revved up to just over 7000rpm with non of the usual reluctance around 6000rpm. Clean & crisp with non of the āchokeyā stutter I got with the Big1 front pipe. Iām looking forward to a dry sunny day so I can see where my revs top outā¦

Must admit that pipe looks bitchin, I love the bare metal with welds on display. Quality stuff. Your bike will be running better because it will be able to breath better (exhale) with the new pipe. Must admit Iām itching to get out on the TDR but the council vandals have been out and covered the roads in salt so Iām praying for rain to wash it all away and sunny days. -

I was going to polish out the welds so it just shines like chrome but itās grown on me. Place I used to work did a lot of tig welding on stainless and aluminium. The heat marks polishes out quite easilyā¦
Salt bothers me as well, just doesnāt stop me š ā¦

I know what you mean those welds are a work of art that should be in a picture frame ! -
@Calum
I know what you mean those welds are a work of art that should be in a picture frame !The welding is nearly as good as the best Iāve seen. 90%+ some of it looks like it was machine welded, and the way the sections flow into each other is sweet. RH has obviously had some practice š
Polishing it wonāt detract from the welds but it will remove the bands of colour. It would make it a uniform silverā¦Quick stupid question that nobody will reply to, but has anyone found a supplier for the metal loop retainer rings that hold the front calliper rubber seal in its place in the groove? I canāt find anything that is thin enough or I wouldnāt askā¦

Just found loads of fleabay listings that includes the ring with the rubber. Canāt believe that I never saw them before š

Had to replace the seal on the disc side fork with the old ones I took out! Pyramid parts donāt seem to stand the test of time š Put the spare set of new top & bottom bushes in while I was at it. Gonna have to do the bushes in the other fork to match. The 27mm hex drive makes it so easy to dismantle the forks as long as the Allen bolt hasnāt seized to the aluminium fork bottomā¦
I still have a newer set of forks to rebuild with new top& bottom bushes & original seals and progressive springs, but Iām waiting for spring and money to get the new fork bottoms and yokes painted. As well as sourcing the seals for the headstock bearingsā¦
The RH exhaust is an absolute dream. Itās breathing like an athlete with a beautiful exhaust note. Could be a touch quieter for my taste, but Iām an old git now, not a boy racer š itās just not worth the āpull factorā for meā¦
