@erion1 @Calum I've seen DTRs for sale described as "imported from Switzerland" before with a front pipe like that. I think it separates because it has a catalytic convertor, and the extra heat shield is something to do with their safety rules for new vehicles.
There is a very interesting Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld all about Switzerland, it's a very beautiful country but you're not allowed to do anything. In the 90s a brand new Kawasaki ZZ-R1100 was the fastest production motorcycle you could buy except Swiss spec ones were restricted to 70bhp. Also the owners' manual that came with my 1st French import DTR instructed the new owner to change gear between 7 and 9000rpm for maximum riding enjoyment, unless you live in Switzerland, in which case you should change gear at 4000rpm.

@HOTSHOT-III Shut Up That's hilarious.
-
@HOTSHOT-III it was imported from swiss here to kosovo i could may be the 2nd owner of this bike from factory
but im trying to get more info about this type of pipe, and i don't think its some type of restriction as the bike is a 4bl 91 model with unrestricted cdi
i may open it up to see what is it.
btw do unrestricted dt's still have restrictions in exhaust -
@erion1 Some DTR stock front pipes have a washer in the header pipe and some don't, if yours has one you'll see it where the header pipe meets the cylinder.
If you want to keep the stock pipe try and find one marked 3MB from France as in my experience these have no restriction in either the front pipe or silencer.
-
@HOTSHOT-III i dont think it had a washer when i took the bike apart bc i checked it but some have a restriction in middle of the pipe on the widest point, as for the silencer i don't have the original one anymore it has a fake akrapovic 4t exhaust

Fountain of knowledge! Swiss have a cat in the exhaust? and the heat shield doubles as a cheese grater!
I can vaguely remember the clarkson in swiz thing. Don’t they have a 40mph speed limit, or some such crazy?…
Is it them that go crazy doing rally racing every weekend to blow of sauna steam! …
-
@SpookDog I think Clarkson also made an episode of Motorworld in Iceland where they were hill climbing monster trucks up and down these mounds of volcanic ash.
Yes Switzerland is completely anti-car and anti-motorcycle unfortunately, and it's coming here. This new 20mph speed limit in Wales is causing a lot of problems and it's happening in Wimborne in April.
-
Blandford is already 20mm through town. So are parts of Broadstone…
-
@HOTSHOT-III Yamaha unwittingly cracking jokes / taking the piss is pretty funny

If you check the pipe by where your horn is they’ll be a part number, post it on here for some comparisons. It could be a unique part to Swiss models.
