1988 rebuild update

Have ordered the bar ends, spare time today so thought I would check and take for mot, difficult to start again! Checked all usual suspects and thought fuel starvation to blame, could get to start on choke but running off choke poor, decided to take carb out and found inlet rubber split below jubilee clip! Ordered from cmsl as fowlers had no stock,none on eBay either! 60 odd euros including postage, not pleased. To be expected for 29 yr old rubber parts I suppose, assume it split after initial reassembly as started and ran perfectly when first reassembled. At least I found the problem, just have to wait a week or so for delivery now

Which one is that?

Like those fitted to late DTR / DT-X etc had a hole for another yeis type bottle to plug in and act I'm guessing as an intake silencer

@nottsbiker looked on cmsl exploded diagrams, can only see the pattern as mine even for later bikes, same part no? May seal mine with self amalgamating tape while I am waiting, (I get bored easily!)

Least it's not downstream of the carb so you won't do as much damage if it's not 100% sealed.

@nottsbiker It's not a silencer. It's Yamaha Energy Intake System and is used to as a resonance boost bottle.
I've explained it before, but probably poorly. Definitely research it.

I know what the YEIS does but I'm unsure if the second 'bottle' is a boost bottle and always assumed it was a modification by Yamaha to the older engine to either quieten it down more or improve emissions.

@nottsbiker As @AndyYam used to say, the competition WR had those same bottles. They wouldn't restrict a competition bike.

Yes I thought that might be the case due to having the dellorto rather than the mikuni carb.
If i could find a 200R engine I'd use the associated carb which I reckon is the same 28mm mikuni as the DTR
