1988 rebuild update

@calum said in 1988 rebuild update:
I bet those R&G hoses weren't cheap. They look lovely though.
Came in at £54.00, happy with that (ish), rebuilt front master cylinder and that was pretty grim, circlip a pig to get off, corroded, took me ages to find my circlip pliers as well!
Photo of spare side panel with correct age related graphic shown, bit plain Jane to be honest , not as appealing as others. Mileage of bike was a shade over 28k when I started, lucky enough to pick up new clocks cheap a few years back, sold the old ones for more!

Phoned up about my wheels, due ready today, delay as front spokes wrong when delivered, bummer! Could be ready later this week if I am lucky. Have ordered some tkc80 tyres from Pneus (auto spell changed that to p*nis!) online that came in at £90, inner tubes on way, just need rim tape and my mate to get back from holiday to fit the tyres. Had a slight weep on expansion tank connection behind side panel, surprised as new hoses, remade and that seems cured. Ordered some 88 graphics as well, have to hide the bank statement when it comes

No word on the wheels yet, still kicking my heels waiting. Tyres, tubes and rim tape arrived and all ready for fitting, new bearings waiting, destickered bike ready for new decals when they come. Frustrating waiting tbh not the most patient, but at least the weather has been poor so not missing out on too much
Made a new spout for exhaust, try and get that welded this week -
I have a pair of standard front and rear now 1 did have a little rattle but that turned out to be a stone lol that would be my little boys the hellers

If it was a 1990 model yes, but it's an 88 that seems to have had a bodywork transplant in the early years of its life, by1994 anyway as thats how it was when the owners I got it from bought it. Will be white or blue, sent a query to Yamaha and no response to date and also sent off to DVLA for history and hoping that will reveal original colour

@andrewj1680 Thanks, tried via the vin no with no success, have the details on the 2 labels but cannot decipher, will post later, ta

Finally had a reply from Yamaha and my bike was white from first registration, dvla history should tell me when colour was changed when that arrives. Phoned wheel builder yesterday am and he said just doing wheels now, great, should have them back today! Oh no!, phone call in the afternoon wrong spokes again apparently, he said he was ordering from Yamaha next. Trouble is I wanted stainless, could not discuss with him at the time as on mini train at the zoo with grandson, ringing him shortly to sort out but seems another week without wheels, bummer!!

Doubt Yamaha will have stainless steel spokes so you will probably get the original zinc plated ones again.
Have you thought about Central Wheel Components for your wheel build? Would be expensive but you'd get stainless if you wanted it
