Forum Instability
-
Wow, there is always something else am I right?
This forum is really suffering from instability issues at the moment I have no ideas why.
I can't see anything in the logs to suggest that there is something wrong with the machine but I will continue to investigate.
I have ordered a new machine and new hard disk, so I will look to migrate the server to this very soon. The machine is also slightly faster so should be able to handle more concurrent users.
Sorry for the inconvinience guys I will do my best to try and resolve the issues we're having.
Kind Regards,
Calum

@Calum yeah it really sucks not being able to get on here but I'm finally on
-
@Calum There's always something needing fixing, good job getting it sorted tho!!!
-
Yeah it's not good.
-
Wondered why I keep failing to load this site recently.. Most of the time it's my home hub being dodgy so chalked it down to that.
-
@Mightyman Yeah mate it's this PC. I have been doing updates and patches which is going to cause it be offline.
The updates are finished now. I've rebooted the machine, I'll keep an eye on it.
Worst case I have got a new computer for it, I will swap out the database if needs be.

@terry.tz Or get it right first time...

I could post quotes all day
-
@terry.tz You'll never learn how to win by losing, and surely winning is the objective. Ergo, pointless quote.

"To be a champion, I think you have to see the big picture. It's not about winning and losing; it's about every day hard work and about thriving on a challenge. It's about embracing the pain that you'll experience at the end of a race and not being afraid. I think people think too hard and get afraid of a certain challenge." Summer Sanders

Yep, seriously broken now.
So I've swapped out the hardware to see if it is this that has gone faulty.
If this goes offline again then I know it's not the hardware and it might be the operating system.
If that's the case then this forum will be inaccessible this week whilst I rebuild a new server.
At the moment this is now running in "limp" mode so expect it to run slow.
-
So I have put the forum on a new computer and it seems to be doing fine now. I am thinking maybe I burnt the old one out.
-
Poor little pie could only take so many asynchronous requests
-
@mightyman It was well utilised over four cores lol
It's actually higher spec than say a small AWS machine. It's very performant. However it's ARM and it's also running on an SD card which is a ticking time bomb lmfao.
I reckon it was the ethernet that burnt out. I might solder a new one on it and see if it works.
We're now running on a new Pi 3 so upgrade and ting.
-
Well , the forum running awesome fast now.
Great job and thank you @Calum . -
@zrako Lol, it's running off the Wifi at the moment.
Although I wonder if that was the cause all along
The forum is literally sat on my window sill lmao

There it is ladies a d gents, The DT Forum. And above it the bastard thing that burnt out earlier lol.
