@tomimsmith1992 no problem mate! Yeah it's just the direct link as Calum runs this website of his home network. Having a little look though at this radiator cap it actually looks pretty clean I've seen worse! If you have a spare radiator cap to hand give it a try and see how it goes and if it's the same situation probably best to investigate the head gasket, the cooling system seems fairly simple on these bikes so shouldn't be hard to find the culprit .

Renamed, Head Gasket Leak, Solved -
DTR Custom Build@CYBER-NINJA He used the same method I used to fit my YZ 250 USD forks on my DTR project. It works a treat depending on the year of the forks and width of the centre stem but my DTR stem pressed straight into the YZ 250 bottom yolk with no issues. I'll be using the bearing cup method with my 2nd DTR this time though as got a nice set of wr450 forks.

Rev limiter@DevonDtr When he says earth it to the frame that means you'll need to join the exposed end of that wire on to the frame, it'll need to touch the frame to earth properly! It's best to try and find a bolt on the frame the wire reaches to and unscrew the bolt enough to put the wire under it and tighten the bolt back down that way it'll help keep the wire in place and it'll also be earthed!

How quick should a dt be?Hmm weird! I know a few people with 125 4/ bikes and they can't get close to my bike although one friend has a Yamaha wr125 supermoto that's been fitted with a big bore kit and some other mods and that will keep up with my DT but accelation wise my bike destroys it lol must be because my bikes older 1997 it's full power it will happily sit behind my cousins YZ 125 and acceleration wise it isn't far behind it

Nightmare situation@CYBER-NINJA one thing that's a bit off the subject is I found when selling this bike even though I made a profit a lot of potential buyers who enquired loved the mods and where really interested in the various upgrades but I also got the odd message from folk saying fitting usd forks decreased the value of the bike.. I found people where using the upgrades like the wr swing arm and YZ mono shock etc as a way to try and strip chunks of cash of the bike was weird got me thinking if I left it stock I could easily have gotten more and then sold those parts on again and made more money! I think if i got another DTR I'd leave it completely stock besides the usual de restrictions. I liked what you did to your DTR you done subtle visual mods which made the bike look more modern and slick without changing the bike it still looked like a DT where as I feel mines looked like something out mad max lol

Nightmare situation@CYBER-NINJA definitely he will be getting a message back similar to that if he keeps complaining!. I agree with you I sold it for £900 which was my asking price ,he bought it outright on buy it now but I did actually make a profit on it as the USD forks and some of the other parts where included in the sale of the bike when I first bought it I just had to get them adjusted to fit the bike but yeah i should have stuck it on for £1300 or something I realise that now .. Ahh guess I'll see what happens in a few days but no way will there be any refunds givin just had to get some advice as I've never encountered this issue when selling a bike before! I sold my DTR SM a few weeks back and the young guy who bought it absolutely loves it and left me amazing feedback which I should be getting for this bike to if I'm honest lol
-
Nightmare situation@Calum thanks! I'll definetaly follow the advice and also I'll not be linking him to this forum not a chance on that although he might find it on his own. That's true I really hope I've heard the last of it.. The bike was cosmetically quite tatty as I pointed out on my eBay listing and to the seller but it was mechanically perfect it was the one bike I knew I could pull out the garage and it would start and run all day plus I kept up the maintenance. I actually feel sorry for the bike as silly as it sounds and if I could go back to last week I'd not have bothered selling it and just took it apart and put it in boxes till I got a bigger garage to store it.

Nightmare situationSo 3 days ago I sold my lovely DTR project that I built up on here via eBay. The bike was fully running and checked over and found to be faultless apart from missing a spoke on the rear wheel which was made aware to the buyer. So anyway when the buyer came and viewed the bike he was shown it running and checked it all out and all was good he was happy payed me but worryingly decided to drive it away back home without insurance and road tax etc not that I was really bothering he bought it so it was up to him! Anyway today my parter received a message via eBay from guess who? That's right said buyer stating the bike broke down on him today and he's not happy! When the bike was sold to him it was running and running very very well I put everything into making it a good bike but now he's expecting a refund which it was sold with no warranty on eBay cash on collection and he had a test ride before buying! Now from my end I have no idea what he's done to this bike in the days he's owned it! so looking for advice what would you do? I'm adamant there is no refund being givin he's pushy my partner thought he was sketchy to appearance wise anyway tribal face tattoo and steel implanted horns in his forehead lmao I've offered him advice to troubleshoot the bike but should he try and show up at my house am I within my right to not accept it back? It was sold as described I'm genuine but sounds to me he has had his fun on it and now looking for the cash opinions ??

Bargain of the year!?http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/s612/Biker_123/Mobile Uploads/image_zps7ivrcqin.jpeg
The white one! They don't look like much at the moment but believe me they will be decent when finished ! Glad I can put pictures up now finally

Bargain of the year!?@mad73 the frames been done black but tank and fairings are white it does look nice though! The other road legal DT project I bought a few nights ago has a black tank and fairings! I'll be keeping that in non supermoto form I'll be having the frame powder coated and the tank power coated black as its in dire need of it and I'll do the panels and other bits and bobs! Engine runs but it has a blown head gasket so leaking coolant but while I'm taking care of that I'll just put a new top end in there to it'll probably be up for sale after the summer though as I want to use it for a bit first

Direct photo bucket link of the black bike via my iPhone hope it works if not will try on PC later

Bargain of the year!?Last month I picked up a dtr125 project just to learn more about the bike with the aim of putting it on a daylight mot to use in the summer and get some off roading done on it! It came with boxes of parts and 2 engines and enough spares to keep my other DTR SM going if needed I got it for £350 and was quite chuffed with myself as I know the frames themself with paper work go for crazy money on eBay some I've seen sell for £350 £400 Anyway just when I thought I couldn't top that bargain tonight I came across a guy selling another dt125r 2002 model with green slip and old mot slips so it can quite easily be put back on the road and to make things better the bike runs but very poorly and its only really missing the lights and wiring loom which I have spare from a box of parts I got with the £350 quid bike so anyway in the end i decided to buy it and to my amazement he let it go to me for £125 and I got 2 spare engines with it ones from a tdr he said and the others an re engine it has no kick start l also got x2 spare carbs, plastics, seats, supermoto forks, various bits and pieces and he even thrown in the Haynes manual which made me grin as I've been meaning to buy one lol. Looks like I'll have 2 DTR projects on the go now this one I'll be keeping original but if anyone needs any parts chances are I'll have it ..anyone agree I got a bargain?

Remember me?Wow that's some nice bikes you've had @Carlosrexx !! Looking forward to seeing you get to work on your lovely DT your plans are looking really good wouldn't mind fitting YZ usd forks on my own bike be good to know how that works out and if it's an easy swap over without much modification etc
-
Another newbie@CYANIDE-2600 Welcome mate! Look forward to seeing some pictures of your bike. Those are good mods you intend to do however the wr200 yolks won't fit your bike the steering stem is to long unfortunately so it's not going to be a straight swap I'm afraid. What I did myself was use a set of yz250 USD forks and had the steering stem pressed out the DTR yolks and re-pressed into the YZ250 yolks then it's a bolt on job which worked flawlessly! There is also another method using a bearing cup and a guide on here on how to make USD forks fit using this method but just thought I'd point that out to you about the forks.

New guy@Stumpy125 Expensive stuff but it's an investment at the end of the day and you'll get a good turn around if you decide to sell the bike in the future that you can guarantee if it's a minter... The only other options would be to repair any damaged panels you have if you have any or search the breakers on eBay but any panels from there will be cosmetically crap 90% of the time and you might spend more money on paint etc tidying them up.. Decisions decisions lol
-
New guy@Stumpy125 Sounds great mate! There's nothing better than taking a battered up field bike and restoring it back to its former glory for the road again .. The DT125LC is such a sought after bike it can go for real good money on eBay especially one that can go back on the road so it's definitely only going to go up in value it could be a good money maker if you decide to sell it after the restore.

New guyWelcome mate! I really like the LC nice bikes not to many left on the road these days! Throw up a project topic on here would be nice to see it coming together
