@Calum Cheer mate! You were spot on. Took it apart again. Lined everything up and just went out for a ride and she's better than even. first proper engine rebuild and it seems to have gone pretty well minus a few hiccups. Next one will be super smooth now.

Rubuild clutch problem@MIGHTYMAN
I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!!!! Thanks mightyman, I had to go down to the garage and see what you were talking about and yep - that was my problem too, had no idea the clutch face only has one one to go on !!! Beginners mistake, thanks again - I've been searching google and YouTube for this - should have asked here hours ago. -
Rubuild clutch problem@MIGHTYMAN Thanks for the reply mate , will have a good look at that tomorrow. Can't quite understand without going and taking it part again

Rubuild clutch problemHey guys, rebuilt dt bottom end today but I've somehow assembled the clutch wrong. All the plates are there and in the same order but it's constantly dissengaged - both pushrods and ball bearing are in place. Anyone done similar or got a good video on YouTube that shows the assembly? As usual the Haynes manual is hard to understand with not enough pictures

Which Head Gasket@ConnorDTR watching thisnpost with interest. I skimmed my head and cylinder and used an Athena gasket and its still putting bubbles in the radiator. My next one will be a genuine yam one or copper if you have success with that. Keep me posted with the results if you go copper.

4dl head fitting@AndyYam and yes, I really want a zeeltronic setup but they are quite pricey new and you don't see them second hand. Eventually I will
-
4dl head fitting@AndyYam had an xt660x - second best bike I've ever owned. Beautiful noise with the Akrapovic exhausts on, so much low end torqy power and just a lot of fun!!! A friend has it now - he's put some nobblys on it with the intention to join me on some green lanes. I miss that bike along with my crm250
-
4dl head fitting@AndyYam most of my bikes have been 600cc enduro, super moto and sports bikes. My favourite bike so far was my CRM250 which was bonkers. But enjoying the DTR for the green lanes and light enough to lift onto the back of mg camper van. Not after mega power - just the best it can be

4dl head fittingSo my 4dl belgarda head turned up in the post today. Surprised it has no markings on at all? No stamp of 4 DL? A bit suspicious. The bike feels quite a bit better mid range than my 3bn head but not as much punch top end.... Anyone else experienced this? Its definitely more ridable now. More power changing gears lower down instead of revving the nuts off the bike. I know there is a bit of play between my piston and the cylinder so maybe this is stopping me from feeling the true upgrade of the head?
Any recommendations for where to send my barrel to for a bore and piston? -
JetsDOH! didn't look at the back of the haynes manual (pg140) where they added later bike models. From 2004 onwards the main jet was 210 and pilot was 17.5 - so my bike was set up correctly! Problem now is my jet needle is a little bent and shows excessive wear on the bent side which means I need to replace my needle and needle jet ( 5j40 and q2m(939) ) but I can't find those anywhere on the web.

3MB head.... Should I buy it?Cheers guys, I have bought that head. Looking forward to it arriving
-
3MB head.... Should I buy it?@Calum thanks Calum, think I will go for that if you reckon its a good buy? I really can't find much info on the web about putting a 4dl head on a 3mb00 DTR barrel? I assume it will be an improvement over the 3bn - especially if minesl is warped!
-
3MB head.... Should I buy it?@AndyYam is the 4DL as good as the 3MB? I've just put on my third head gasket now (Athena gasket) and still have a leak so I'm guessing my 3bn is warped anyway

Carb hoses@MIGHTYMAN thanks for a quick reply. I'm pretty sure pic 2 show the hoses for the heating loop but not the ones I'm pointing to. These were also unconnected as he'd decided to put two bolts in the head so I will leave these. Its probably only for carb icing.
-
Carb hosesOnce again the Haynes manual doesn't cover my model. I've scoured the internet for a carb diagram but I can even find my carb on there. Its a heated mikuni maybe tm/vm? Anyway, the last ower obviously detached a few hoses and left them off. As I'm rebuilding it I want to put it back how it should be. Anyone know where these three pipes should connect to?
2)
Thabks again guys

3mb00 barrel with a 3bn head...@Calum I've messaged him via Facebook but he hasn't posted anything there for a long while. Shame. He's highly rexxomended all over google!
