Cheers buddy, I'd searched and just turned up gibberish that confused me even more, but once I ignored all the threads claiming the pulley rotates clockwise for PV opening, and set the cables back as they were supposed to be (1-2, 2-1) it all made sense again - it must turn anticlockwise viewed from the LHS to open it couldn't work the other way! Anyhow, it's all up and running and I've fully re-dressed her and given her a wipe over and a run up and down the road. All seems well enough but it feels like the PV opened more and earlier before I tore it down and serviced it, I think it had been adjusted from the normal peg-in-hole alignment perhaps, but it's al good enough for now and if I want to tune it a bit differently for preference at least I know what I'm doing now! Time to ride it some more whilst I think about sorting my carb tune properly down the line. Cheers Calum!

PV cables swap over at some point?.. -
PV cables swap over at some point?..Trying to put the servo back on and get the cables connected and set right, I noticed the cables line up from the engine side number '1', to the servo side number '2', and when I set it up like this everything looks right but the valve is working backwards/closing with increasing revs.
Do the cables swap positions at some point so that the cable runs from 1 to 1, and the other from 2 to 2? - This would have the PV opneing at the right time again, but I do not recall those cables being crossed over before I took it off...
HELP! I'm almost ready to put it all back together now and am dying to do so before NYE which is also my birthday!
Thanks! ',;~}

RHS power valve cover/RH PV end bushing (1992 French import)?..Thanks Calum.

RHS power valve cover/RH PV end bushing (1992 French import)?..Any surprises when it comes to taking these off?
My PV has started to bind after the bike got dumped in the river, self cleaning cycle is slow and PV occasionally sticks open.
I've had the head off already when the bike was first recovered from the water so I know the main bit of the PV is clean, I know the LHS drive end is all clean, dry and lubed including the cables, and it was initially working fine after the recovery, but I get the feeling some water remained in the RHS bushing end and that it is now jamming up on that bushing as the steel gets surface corrosion and it is getting progressively worse especially with the bike being infrequently run.
I see I have to remove the exhaust, is it all straight forwards after that?
Cheers me dears,
Shaun.
P.s. I take it this area is normally only lubricated by whatever un-burned 2T oil gets forced or seeps that way?

No e-mail verification e-mail?..I've tried a few times now to verify my e-mail address, but I never receive the e-mail from you to do so. It's not going to my junk box or anything either. "Your email has not been confirmed yet, please check your inbox for the confirmation email. You may not be able to post in some categories or chat until your email is confirmed."
Help?

Will a 90/90-21 (Vee Rubber VRM 163F) fit DTR 125 front wheel?Just that folks - a 90/90 isn't too wide for this is it? Cheers!

3mb expansion chamber, cone restrictor removal and re-jetting?..I've been digging through the info here and elsewhere on the web but I can't find out - I have a French import 92 DTR with the original 3mb expansion chamber. Bike is currently around 14-15 bhp.
I've read that these chambers of this era often have a cone shaped restrictor on the engine end of the pipe on the sub 15bhp models, and once removed they run up to around 18 bhp.
I take it there's a jetting change needed to compensate, and I'm wondering if there's a ball-park figure to start at for an otherwise standard French 92 model?
Cheers me dears!

Original on-bike toolbox, rubber cover/lid?.. (1992 DT125R, ex-France)@HOTSHOT-III Cheers buddy yes that's the thing - the box is in good nick, I just ripped the lock tab off. I could try and make something up, but it'd be a shame as the bike's currently all original/unrestored.
Thanks again!
Shaun.

Original on-bike toolbox, rubber cover/lid?.. (1992 DT125R, ex-France)I've broken the lock over tab on my little OE on-bike toolbox rubber lid/cover, and I can't seem to find if anyone does replacements for them.
Anyone know what I'm on about and have a clue if by any remote chance, anyone has replacements available?
Cheers me dears!

Changing to larger 18T front sprocket, does chain tension/wheel position need adjusting too?@SpookDog So what was the upshot of the diesel mistake then?..

Changing to larger 18T front sprocket, does chain tension/wheel position need adjusting too?@SpookDog I've been the oldest person by a margin for every CBT I've done since the first one at the end of the 1990's, luckily not as old as the instructors though!
My instructors may be gladdened to hear I don't overly utilise my mirrors out of consideration for the health of my nerves. Heh! Only joking before anyone gets upset
Cheers! P.s. I'm thinking of sewing some webbing straps to the ankles of my MC pants to help with getting on and off!

Changing to larger 18T front sprocket, does chain tension/wheel position need adjusting too?@Stevie-Wonder Thanks for that, appreciated.
I'm actually still without a diagnosis, but it's been pretty obvious for a long time.
And I'm not afraid of the bike at all, it's a different set of a different kind of fears and once I get past those I'm back to myself, who learns by osmosis and has a natural practical sense.
I fell in love with 2 strokes when I was younger, but I never had the money to do it well then, so just rode beaters around the fields, but they're in my blood and I follow a lot of the 2 stroke fb pages, try to keep up with any news, even read the tuner's handbook for fun a couple or so years ago. I'm not about to willingly trade my way out of owning this one. I'll get my head around everything soon enough.
Thanks again!

Properly Sorted with her 18 tooth sprocket and a carb clean!Sitting on a tall bike with an upright riding stance almost exactly increases apparent speed by 33.33(recurring)%!
Mine's a French import, 'unrestricted' with fully working PV. Don't know what that means in actual RW BHP though, but it seems to be enough for me.
I hadn't noticed unusual wind noise but then again, my last helmet was the earlier Duke, and I tend to ride everywhere with my visor open at least an inch anyway so I always get tons of wind noise

Properly Sorted with her 18 tooth sprocket and a carb clean!@Calum That's what I reckon mine would have done standard gearing, but fastest I got was 67.
The 18 tooth ONLY just fits, and you have to remove the rubber chain-bumper/whatever piece from the casing in front of where the sprocket sits, for it to fit in there.
I've not a clue what top speed it could now manage with the power it has, but I'm sure it'll be fast enough for me with a little room to spare.

Changing to larger 18T front sprocket, does chain tension/wheel position need adjusting too?Over-sharing seems to come with the spectrum territory heheheh!
Carb strip done, all back together and running like a dream!
My one main cockup, I bent the last few mm end of the f'n slide needle didn't I! Never bent, broke or lost one before, but luckily I got it back right and it works perfectly again.
It's always the demons and the walls they build that present me with the biggest obstacles to overcome, except for where money is the issue heheheh!
Cheers, and thanks.

Changing to larger 18T front sprocket, does chain tension/wheel position need adjusting too?Oh buddy, I feel ya - my back issues are similar, from shooting pains down through my arse and down my legs, to a feeling like my balls are being squeezed in a vise, and it's been effecting me for abgout the last 20 years too, and is all because of an MC accident winter of 1999 where I shattered (centre 3 inches of it 'turned to crumbs' to quote my surgeon) my left femur (now pinned from hip to knee) and whiplashed the hell out of my neck and lower back.
I got back on the road with the Piaggio scoot about 2010, and that took some guts, I was fucking terrified.
I'm just short of 5'11'', but I have to climb on with her on the sidestand and sometimes have to use a hand on a leg and pull it to get off, it's hilarious.
Thing is when the planets align I can have moments of athletic limberness that has too many people fooled.
I quit drinking for the last time 9+ years ago now, I was in a very dark place for years before that so hopelessly depressed and I was drinking all the while my eyes were open.
I have a soon-to-be 8 year old Au/ADHD kid (just been to his mental-monkey warehouse birthday party heheheh!), and plenty to live for so although I am still AFU in many ways, I don't tend to get properly 'depressed', but I tell you what that lad kicks my arse, I'm AuDHD but I can't keep up with him on his slowest days.
As for the bike, I was very happy with it when I put it away yesterday after the 18 tooth sprocket and clean carb test ride, and I'm not suffering too badly from the last few days efforts.
Cheers bud

Changing to larger 18T front sprocket, does chain tension/wheel position need adjusting too?@Calum I'm far from alone with what I'm going through, and there's always people having a tougher time and doing better with it, so wtf eh heheheh!
As for the bike, well it came from Glenn, hasn't done much mileage and far as I can tell, is otherwise more-or-less in top, unrestored, original condition.
Anyway, all the work is done now, 18 tooth on the front and a test ride done, she purrs and flies - I posted about it briefly with some photos earlier.
And, I'd move my own legs on before I'd move this bike on now.
As for taking it steady, I've been trying most of my life heheheh, cheers again muckah.

Properly Sorted with her 18 tooth sprocket and a carb clean!I'd finally call her Finished'!
Carb was full of crap, emulsion tube was packed solid half way up on the inside, and the remaining little holes were not fully clear.
Had that US cleaned at Rea Racing, flushed and refilled the coolant system and then finally, upped the front sprocket from standard 16 teeth to 18.I swear this is what the engine needed, this gear ratio set is perfect for what I need, and now I can do 50 or 60 mph without having to rev to 9k+ nor am i hammering frantically up through the gears like a psycho it's beautiful!

Changing to larger 18T front sprocket, does chain tension/wheel position need adjusting too?My heart belongs to the ring-a-ding-ding, though!
I plan on doing a few longer journeys on this as well so an e-bike wouldn't have suited, but I did consider it.
Also I'm currently riding via serial CBT's on L plates!
The day-to-day stuff I'll get my head around in no time, and I'm lucky enough, that when I need bigger jobs doing, my local bike mechanics are ''Rea Racing'', not only an actual racing team/family here in the UK, but really top guys too.
Just to add - I have been having carb troubles as per my other posts. This afternoon I wheeled the bike into my neighbour-buddy's garage, removed side panels, seat and tank then the carb, opened it up, removed the jets, tapped out my first ever emulsion tube and started removing all the massive amounts of gunk from within, took the carb and bits to Rea where they are now being ultrasonic cleaned ready for reassembly etc. tomorrow.
My back went out as I got to the garage, and it was tough wheeling the bike up the gentle slope into the garage, especially since it weighs twice what I currently do (seriously 2x plus 10lb -
bike wet weight 262.4 lbs. me without my rags at 126lb!), but the toughest part was slaying the demons making me feel I couldn't do it at all - the parts all came off in the fashion they looked like they should, and it was a smooth, unrushed process lasting a couple of hours in total, and I only slightly skinned one knuckle heheheh. So you see, my beliefs are locked in a different universe than the actual reality and they hold me over there with them, until I manage to stand and leap the gap and get it done, and for the first time in my life since I was a tot, it sometimes takes a little unnecessary-seeming 'hand-holding' to get me started. Previously, I was ferociously independent and just did almost everything myself flying blind.
Cheers again Callum!
Shaun/FloWolF
P.s. - are you a UK native too?
