@Hybrid_Theory01 the early ones up to 1998 had the 'shell' like cover. 98 on was the flat cover due to having a different oil pump. For this reason there is 2 different throttle cables available.
@SpookDog yes I have that Wire connected to the Key switch, my interest is to keep the on off Button, i Will rewire it to the black and white cable, even tho it really doesent affect the Spark since the aditional resistance is insignificant
@primal-carnage Never used anything but the OEM looking silver levers to be honest. Keeping cables clean and well lubed will make the biggest difference. It's a messy job so wrap a rag around the oiler and another one round the other end of the cable but well worth it; even a brand new un-lubed OEM clutch cable is slightly stiff and feels like the clutch lever can't quite keep up with your fingers as you release it. And a cable which has been lubed will last over twice as long.

@primalAnyone put one on there DTr and still have the link-carnage last one i got was a cm to short to reach the clutch arm if there was 1cm more thread i would of been laffin

@primal-carnage
Nah, I was on about the clocks themselves. If your Speedo and a mates (known good) speedo say the same, they’re probably good. More likely that a previous owner has put the wrong snail drive out of a different bike on yours…
You want to look for a Yamaha with the same size spindle-bolt that has a 4 nut clamp on the right side. Xt’s and older Dt’s will probably be the same. Even some non 21inch wheels might use the same drive?…
Fowlers will have the part number if you want to search for it…
@Stevie-Wonder yup me and you were right mate i have found ya can buy 2 on ebay for £6 i new it was that coz the break light and indecators both happend at same time ..some people say they shouldnt be connected but it just depends on how people have wired there after market break lights up don't it
@primal-carnage I run that GPF301 gear lever and it fits straight on yes.
Sticks out a bit more than the stock DTR lever but if you have a DTRe it actually clears the larger l/h engine cover very well.
The mot guy put an advisory on my bike about the lights at tickover. Reckoned that the stator was buggered. I tried to explain to him but ‘he had one when younger’ and so was right
@mhbikesnbits I am using a genuine one,old NOS if I recall correctly.I have made a modified backup from an XT600 (early model that has the clutch arm on the same side as the DT) was used but in excellent condition.
@TBthegr81
I just assumed you were UK based, hence the PJME suggestion. They’re good. I’ve brought a rebored cylinder that was done by a well known UK ‘reputable Tuner’ and it looked like dogshit...
Notchy steering is well annoying! And yes, dangerous!...
