@SpookDog now then mate just wondering any chance ya can add me on fb i have a crosser group i have been re building a lot of WRs and ktms ,but only just started on the DTRs last DT i had was a DT 175 and then another DT 125 when i was 19 im 42 now now ..i have ordered nearly £600 in extras but a few things i have ordered i have done on the advice off this group ..id like you take a look at a few things to make sure they go on.....And about the speedo drive mine is exactly the same mate up and down like a yo yo and its loose coming away from the wheel. @primal-carnage Nah, I was on about the clocks themselves. If your Speedo and a mates (known good) speedo say the same, they’re probably good. More likely that a previous owner has put the wrong snail drive out of a different bike on yours… You want to look for a Yamaha with the same size spindle-bolt that has a 4 nut clamp on the right side. Xt’s and older Dt’s will probably be the same. Even some non 21inch wheels might use the same drive?… Fowlers will have the part number if you want to search for it…

@Stevie-Wonder yup me and you were right mate i have found ya can buy 2 on ebay for £6 i new it was that coz the break light and indecators both happend at same time ..some people say they shouldnt be connected but it just depends on how people have wired there after market break lights up don't it

Are the standard radiators not ally? Mine have lost paint but I don’t remember any rust?…

@primal-carnage I run that GPF301 gear lever and it fits straight on yes. Sticks out a bit more than the stock DTR lever but if you have a DTRe it actually clears the larger l/h engine cover very well.

The mot guy put an advisory on my bike about the lights at tickover. Reckoned that the stator was buggered. I tried to explain to him but ‘he had one when younger’ and so was right

@Calum The last one is the ticket I’m thinking about. Though with a slightly oranger yellow the ‘dt200 in black’ @HOTSHOT-III I was actually wanting a Ts 125 before I settled on an 88 Dtr I’m happy with my choice. Just wish I’d got a proper-running example rather than a messed with basket case! Oh well, choosy beggars, yada, yada! 🤪

Got the original paint on the frame scanned, problem solved and another DT going to be saved

@mhbikesnbits I am using a genuine one,old NOS if I recall correctly.I have made a modified backup from an XT600 (early model that has the clutch arm on the same side as the DT) was used but in excellent condition.

@TBthegr81 I just assumed you were UK based, hence the PJME suggestion. They’re good. I’ve brought a rebored cylinder that was done by a well known UK ‘reputable Tuner’ and it looked like dogshit... Notchy steering is well annoying! And yes, dangerous!...

@Calum hmm interesting it’s a option, got a lot of research to do on the radiator situation, my choices at the moment, source the Dt200r radiators, I also thought about buying a set of twin ally radiators and take them to a welder along with the dt brackets and say make me some new brackets with all these mounting points for on the frame and air scoops ect but weld new for these radiators and now these Lanza radiators could Also be a option

i know that this is quite a old conversation but if you still have the dt125 and you want more power, a yz125 1989-1993 engine atleast fits perfectly with the swingarm and you just have to make like 2 head mounts from sheet steel, i did that to mine cause well the cylinder fucked up and i had a yz laying around because i was doing a dyz project anyway, so i sold my other damaged dt125 frame and just built it in my main bike where i kept the dt frame for plates and the frame number and everything else on it is from a yz

@SpookDog yes the 200wr has an aluminum swingarm but so does my 125r (got a dt200r one) and I bet you are correct that loads of bits are the same. Oddly though the the 200 is narrower than the 125 with the linkage mount a different distance from the pivot so would not be a direct swap either
