What do you call cheap? Fitted Afam set to my red 88 bike and not expensive, around the 50 quid mark, Just ordered DID xring set from M&P for the 89 bike for 68 quid (roughly?)
Afam set had JT sprockets, not sure DID set, due Monday.

Interesting to see what he says, had a bike with cheap stuff on before and chain stretched like an elastic band, could be his are different though?

Yeah I've had cheap stuff before and they don't last. But Terry has already said he's not expecting it to last.

My advice would be to get used Renthals perhaps. Must be plenty of people that get the sizes wrong and have spares.

@terry-tz wasn’t mine a little more than that? Either way I love them the chain is really good quality I’ve got it on 2 of my bikes is gold and nickel coloured the sprockets were also really good no sign of wear on any of my drive train

Think I ended up ditching the 520 conversion opting for a lighter Tsukaba chain set.

High quality set, think I paid a lot more than this,

@declan Style over substance mate. My bike was all about style.

It also never stretched, highly durable.

@calumI think there justified for everyday rides for the durability I might put a 520 after the rebuild

so realistically you done it once as there normally a bit of stretch not long after fitting how many mile you done since putting it on

I have DID vx2 520 on mine. On a bike like the Dt, it will never go bad when looked after.
Well worth the peace of mind when im far from home, and for me, cheaper in the long run.

@terry-tz Having had both, I don't know whether I'd recommend it.

Reliability wise it was spot on. But then so is a high quality 428 pitch chain, without the extra drag associated with the heavier chain.

I know we're talking very minute figures, but why have the extra drag, for maybe some more reliability.

@calum it's more difficult to maintain your chain miles from home ok there is shops up and down the country but its the hassle
