Sounds like a regulator issue, is the one on the bike compatible with the engine?

wrote on 27 Sept 2018, 15:24 last edited by@Bluestoesonnose yes, it started to do this when i installed the new engine, i doubt it is the regulator, and that i might have done something wrong.

I have had similar, but not identical issues, after faffing around with a rebuilt engine. Turned out the ignition switch loom had just completely corroded and was intermittent.
Trying to resolve this problem is difficult unless you know exactly what causes it. For me, it would work sometimes, ride the bike down the road and the YPVS would fail.
Once the bike was on, it was running, but the act of moving it unjarred a corroded cable.
Check to you haven't tugged one of the wires.

So you're saying you have no starter relay?
Which houses the main fuse and supplies power to the rest of the bike? I reckon you need to find that and fit it

@finnerz89 https://mtp-racing24.com/media/image/product/16642/lg/starter-relay-solenoid-yamaha.jpg there should be something there right?

Yeah definitely should be a plug in there. 1 or 2 cables for the starter solenoid (to spin the starter) and then 1 or 2 for power to the rest of the bike
