I've got a friend with a seized gasgas 450. 4 stroke year 2004 (street legal). I'm thinking about bidding £165. Anyone know if parts are easy to get? If it needs an entire cylinder and piston.

It's my understanding, that it's £165 for a reason. Engines on these machines are savagely expensive to rebuild.

      Good luck though.

@Irongamer727 Not worth it, GasGas sold their factory and pretty much their whole spares and old/new stock in the mid 2000s. As a result, parts for their older models in most cases are an absolute pain in the arse to find. I would know, I've owned my GasGas for 4 years now and finding parts took months. Steering bearings had to be made by hand as well since there aren't any left.

@Minia Really? That's too bad. I'd love something to work on and its literally 100m from my garage.

Given enough time you'll find most parts abroad. But its costly and time consuming and what you cant find you have to make. Your choice, theyre great bikes otherwise.

@Irongamer727 yeah but for 165 pound it’s worth it for the parts wheels etc and if the parts are so rare maybe part it out for big bucks or engine swap it I wouldn’t pass that deal up personally

If its just to fix it, don't bother. That's time and money you will not get back. In parts, even as a job lot you'd probably get at least £300-400. If you put the time into selling the pieces, you could get that up to more than £600. Keep in mind, my experience is with the european market which is quite different.

@Minia yes that’s true @NINJA the best thing about yammy hondy and ktmy is theres a large pool of used parts where as with the more niche bikes like gassy and hoosky you struggle to get used parts so you have to buy oem and it gets expensive
