Knobbly tires

I have an interesting spare rear now I think of it it has nobblies but is more flat on the corners of the tyre so you can corner properly on the road I swapped it out though because it made me crash off-road since you can't corner off-road on that tyre I'll get the name of it so i can post it because it's a good tyre if you just want to do green lanes
@declan good job being informative. Most people say âblah blahâ tyres good or bad without any evidence as to why other then their own preferences and experiences. It makes it very confusing and hard to get a conclusive answer when trying to find a decent tyre.
I think Ryan over at fort nine did an amazing job explaining this and anything I havenât mentioned

@riley_racer I highly recommend a change of knobblyâs or checking your tire pressures. Remember when you buy a knobbly for a road legal bike always consider the contact patch with the road and the way that changes/can be effected when you lean into corners. Some knobblyâs just flat out donât offer any support on the shoulders of the tire which as you can imagine is quite unsafe
@Stevie-Wonder yeah that's why I use trial tyres mate :joy: best of both worlds

@Stevie-Wonder ah sorry to hear that mate, I've been doing classic trials since I was wee, so I know where all the BOAT's are in my area

Alas alas Iâd popped to shops and decided to use the jet washes at the Tesco in the process to give the bike a clean, however literally opposite thereâs a field / track all the local yoofs and âoodlums rag their pittyâs around so I thought Iâd stop there make a couple passes and leave. Got there and bumped into a cousin ive not seen in 9 years make a couple passes and then two squad cars pull up at the car park closest and instinctively I pin it across the field. I was honestly just having a convo with my cousin when they pulled up and see I have the greatest respect for the police, most of them at least. Itâs just past experiences have it hardwired in my head that actually the best place you can be to avoid trouble is no where near them to begin with. You canât be in trouble if youâre not there right? I admit that it was pretty silly really. Innocent people donât run, you only get them excited for a chase and they wonât treat you like youâre innocent either.
Unfortunately though lockdown and that they sent 4 squad cars and an unmarked Mercedes towards the Estate I came out from and surrounded me. I was pretty upset to be honest, I only wanted to be alone and wash my bike. Not get served a potential section 51, points for no L plates, fines and the rest of it. I wonder what wouldâve happened if I approached them first though. I admit that was not a smart choice and if it was a traffic cop not an irritated sergeant they wouldâve tried to have my bike off me.
Annoyed at myself a bit too because any other time Iâm riding trails, some fields or accidentally find myself on what I didnât realise is private land and meet people I always cut the engine take my helmet off, introduce myself and shake hands and because of that Iâve only ever ever made friends with people and gained a lot of trust and respect that allows me to ride places other people donât. Only issue is the section 51 means if any of the locals call police rather then just speaking to me (or our district chancellor that Iâve grown up with) and I get caught riding dirt etc then they have full legal power to take the bike đ -

Well it was pretty funny, they where wound up about me not social distancing but had a total of 8 officers there đ I can imagine they werenât too impressed, I literally saw one little cop car spot me coming out onto the road and then a whole regiment turns up like youâd just got a three star wanted level đ Definitely no excuse for l plates, although I was planning to do my bike test before lockdown
Also to be fair to the local boys in my area itâs only a small group of people who rob bikes and theyâre always the young scroates from Jaywick. You might have heard of there from a channel 4 documentary that did the rounds đ. I will actually defend the local boys though, theyâre all well behaved, knowledgeable and just passionate bikes despite what their tracksuits say. I know a couple boys with road legal RMâs, KTMâs and YZâs. They took better care of them then they do their own health and annoying the only reason they get into trouble is because everyone just seeâs them as a collective of chavs. Not kids, teenagers, young adults and adults that all share the some passion of riding bikes. Honestly some of these guys I can tell you now would probably be in prison rather then with their children if it wasnât for bikes and having something like that as an outlet. Every single one of them has helped me out without battering an eyelid, it gets my back up no one gives us/them a chance or place to ride. Itâs not like youth clubs get any funding or the youth get any type of help lately to be honest
