    Can the rear shock spring be taken off the shock on a 2006 125 X to paint it?

    You just need a spring compressor tool and then you can remove the shim plate that fastens it to the shock. Simple job to do.

                There may be a big steel washer on the centre rod. It looks like it’s fixed but can be forced down. You might need to do it to remove the collar. Sometimes it appears the split in the collar is to narrow

                    Wd40 and a big screwdriver on each side. It will move. The centre is stainless I think, so it won’t bond...

                      The washer in question (finger pointed at) with spring washer under.
                      You can see that moving the washer up let’s you access the thinner stainless steel inner Stantion which the collar will pass over 😜 ...
