@dan28 said in Missing some wires for the cdi:
The engine an loom are 1989 the cdi is I believe 3nc the writing has worn off
To make it easier I ll list all the wires that the cdi has in case I got the code wrongRight side of cdi
Male 2 pin plug
white/ red . Wire
Black . Wire
Female 2 pin plug
Green/ white Wire
Black an red wire
These plugs go to stator
CorrectLeft side of cdi
2 pin plug
Dark blue wire
Light blue wire
This is for neutral an oil light
CorrectTwin Black wire from cdi goes to earth
CorrectBlack / white from cdi goes to black / white in loom not sure what it's for ?
This is for the kill button on the handlebarsOrange wire from cdi goes to coil ?
CorrectBlue / yellow from cdi should go to Black/ yellow I can't find it in the loom ?
Blue/yellow from CDI should go to blue/yellow on the loom, a single bullet connector. This goes to the sidestand switchBlack / yellow from cdi should go to.red an white possibly power valve?
Black/yellow from CDI is the YPVS signal wire, goes to black/yellow on the 3-wire YPVS servo. The only red/white wire on the 3NC loom is the short section of the battery +ve lead containing the fuse holderDid I just respond to this on one of the DTR Facebook pages? I posted up a pic of the 3NC loom, will try and upload it onto here

thanks hot shot
yes that was me on fb
so blue an yellow is for sidestand
i have a black with yellow stripe single bullet connector thats labelled as goes to red an white i think this is meant to go to the servo
i m not sure what code my cdi is dont think its 3nc -
@dan28 Yes that's correct, brown is main feed from the ignition switch on Yamahas and obviously black is earth. Interestingly if you apply battery voltage to the black and brown wires of a serviceable 3-wire servo it will perform its cleaning cycle even when removed from the bike as the control circuit is inside the servo itself and the black/yellow signal wire from the CDI just tells the servo the engine speed.
Only other CDI unit I can think of could be a 3BN from the very first 1988 DTR; I think the wiring is very similar to a 3NC but you'd probably have a 26mm round slide carb if that's the case.

@HOTSHOT-III Uhh, you edited your post with the URL in it.
I don't use flicr personally, but
Right Click
+Copy Image Location
ought to give you the URL. -
@HOTSHOT-III Take the URL and put it in side the

.The syntax is Markdown

@Calum Finally sorted as you can see above!!
Turns out on my computer you have to click the download link on a Flickr photo, choose the size you want, THEN copy and paste the URL. Might be because I'm still using the Victorian technology that is Windows 7?
Anyway thanks for your patience

@HOTSHOT-III Yeah, I only use Linux and Firefox.
