    Extracting more of my Archive.

1993' sees new Graphics and more of that questionable 90s flair, with which I am very into.

    Banging.

Proof, Yamaha can make a serious 125cc 2stroke package....

..The TZ125 from 1996'. A good looking design for this year, the top end of 125cc 2stroke racing engines.

70Kg's, you could pick it up and put it in your pocket.

Rotax were also in the mix, Not quite on par with the power unit of the Honda RS125, but a very close match.

Just want to put some lights on it!

@Darty Difference is, this is a fully fledged GP Bike. Aprilia RS you buy on the road. They were competitive, but obviously no match for a bike designed solely for track. Nice diagrams πŸ˜„

@Calum Spend my loose change on Brochures to often,

Aprilia did run the RS125GPs or RS125R. late 1980's and 90s. A works engine and chassis from which the RS125's were developed. Not much info on them.

@Darty Oh I wasn't implying the rotax 122 was left stock. No doubt they had a revised version. That said today they use it in the 125 series amongst hondas rs125. Don't kmow if Yammy is still doing tzs

@Calum No production of the TZs since 05' I think. It's a mad one, I've been looking at imported Japanese spec RS125 engines to drop into a production frame, What a project to build!

Basically don't listen to me, I meant the Honda RS' 125.

                      Yamaha TZM150.

                      Nicasil bore, 4HF-00 or 4AP-00 - 147cc

Looks very close to matching DT/TZR crankcases, but not quite.

TZM has the same stroke/ crankshaft as the 125s, really strange engine by Yamaha for the East Asian market. Rated at 34hp, apparently. But more like 30.

hmmm...Looks like a crap TZR. Or just like a TZR50.

And then a TZM 50, which I just found today, Thought man, that's pretty cool.

But, street legal road bike for whom? An 8year old? Lke TDR80's they are hilarious, proper bits of kit, just shrunk in the washing machine.

1988' Japanese market promotional material. Japanese aesthetic has a way of producing great graphic design. I'd like to say this is a fairly rare find even coming from Japan.

That bash plate though!? I want.

88-92' or so, the DT125R is advertised with a DT200R headlight and Alloy wheels for the JDM market.

These have to be the best illustrations I've seen out of the promo so far.

The DT200R always had a Yamaha Mikuni TM28ss, was always in the pipeline for the 125R.

I can believe that the intended output for a DT125R is 22ps, which is about 21hp.

KTM in from the mid 80's were pretty werid and poor quality. Some of the best looking MX bikes of all time I think. And in 1985, KTM's were coming out with (White Power) WP nowadays,.. USD forks and front AND rear discs.

For the late 1980s KTM's were pretty tech, but not very good by most accounts.

Just a cool and very forward thinking piece of engineering from 1989, I thought I would share MXA's Write up, the only Magazine to get to test it, for the KTM 125MX AMP Prototype.

A really interesting time in Motocross development and the beginning of real refinement of the 2stroke for off-road racing.

                                          Keep it real
