Oh interesting. Seems like its a collaboration with Italkit. No good for a road going machine. You won't be able to run any lights etc. I'd recommend grabbing a lithium battery to go alongside this. I don't think the ignition timing is reprogrammable and it has a fixed static angle. So it terms of flexibility, from the limited information I read, it seems very limited. Great for race applications where you are basically open or closed throttle, but I'd steer clear for road use. Ignitech or Zeeltronic ignition systems for the win for a road going setup.

@Rallyfinnen I think you might be right about the timing angle, one of my repeated measurements came out as cca 185°. I could have used the wrong technique when measuring; Shined a flashlight through spark plug hole and basically measured between the times I can see any light coming through, used the magnet rotor to set marks. A solid, definite number would be useful; my machine has a 3MB00 cylinder and a standard thin gasket, it is not marked with "P" and has never been bored or ported. As for the temperature, I didn't get reliable numbers with a multimeter probe at the flange with the exhaust off, so I opted for calculating it via BMEP which turned out right around 7.10 The temperature would be lower at the middle of the pipe and even lower at the convergent cone, the highest temp is supposed to be right at the exit of the cylinder and if I'm not wrong, that's the part that creates the pressure wave.

Cheers @beng1968 . I must admit, I bought 2 more Athena kits sometime after this post was made and can't concur with the opinions here. The casting was spot on and it was very good value for money. Considering it comes with everything you'd need to bolt it onto your engine, I'd say it's good value. I will agree it's not YZ rip roaring performance from stock, and considering the extent of tuning on my DTR, it's still nothing compared to a stock Aprilia RS 125. However, it's not without its merits. The extra CCs give a nice broader range of power, which as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate more (I'm no longer 75kgs wet ). I did take my cylinder to Mick Abbey for further porting and there is still more porting work that I need to do on my setup. It should be a decent bit of kit, when setup properly. The first experience I had was when I loaned my brothers 2001 DTR back in 2010, he'd fitted the Athena kit amongst various other mods, and that went very well. At the time, I went all in on a ported 3MB00P cylinder from the TZR Belgarda and that setup definitely served me well. I haven't been on my DTR for several years now and I am eager to fire it up again to rejudge my opinion.
