Hello all,
so recently I've had trouble with my DT, I find the carburetor likes to jam here and then. Normally happens on a cold start I'll often find petrol pissing out the carb, normally I ride and after a few minutes it goes away thanks to cobbled streets shaking it loose however my last ride found the carb completely stuck and left me on the side of the road. Thankfully I wasn't far from home but now I don't want to take the chance. I've got a haynes manual but I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to clean it and what with, I'd think it is probably gunk sticking on the floats, the bike had been in a warehouse for over 6 months when I was doing all the paperwork. I've heard some people say clean it with petrol which sounds fair. -

Pull it apart and get all the crap out. Also, if you aren't using the carb Warner hoses from the head, you are running the risk of the carb actually icing.

Sounds like the Float Valve', if you don't have access to a Sonic cleaner, pick up a replacement and then re check the float bowl height. I've had the same thing happen to me.
Give it a soak with petrol, and the spray and brush it all down with carb cleaner should be good enough.

Yup, get it sorted with a new floatvlave and seat.
