Ignition problem
-
Hello guy just changed coil thinking that was the reason my bike wouldn't start as had no spark now I've realised it's the ignition it sparks while it's off and sparks with the ignition disconnected
-
Yeah mate it only sparks 3-4 times with a hard kick
-
And doesn't spark at all with ignition on
-
How do I do that mate
-
@vtrn_raptor It's the switch located directly on the side stand. It's programmed to cut out the engine if the stand is lowered whilst the bike is moving.
-
Checked that just now and still nothing it sparks perfect with the ignition off and also with it disconnected but nothing with it on
-
@vtrn_raptor Yeah that's why I am saying check to make sure it's not faulty bud.
If it's faulty, it's a NO circuit. I.E. the circuit never completes and hence your problem.
You will want to bridge the wires and make it NC circuit. If you do that and you're still having issues, then you know it's not the side stand switch.
-
Ive disconnected it and still no spark mate
-
@vtrn_raptor Yes mate, It's a NORMALLY OPEN circuit.
So disconnecting it won't fix the issue, as it's NORMALLY open.
You have to close the circuit to fix the issue. So short out the circuit which will force it into NORMALLY CLOSED state.
As said, if you do that and it's still not sparking then it's not the side stand switch.
Start off simple and we can work our way up.
-
How do I do that mate as new to this kinda thing
-
@vtrn_raptor Just complete the circuit, have you a haynes manual handy as it would make a lot more sense.
Think of it as a light switch in your room.
If the light switch goes faulty then you won't be able to turn the light on, no matter what state the switch is in, to rectify the issue you would bypass the switch.
So whereever the wires go you will want to short out the circuit, a paperclip would do the trick.
-
Yeah I have a Haynes Manuel mate
-
I disconnected the cdi moved it and reconnected it their was spark then when I disconnected and re positioned it theirs nothing
-
@vtrn_raptor Sorry I'm confused?
Did you short the side stand switch out?
-
No because it's confusing I have no idea how to open the circuit
-
@vtrn_raptor You won't believe how many times this has happened to us all, but have you checked that the handlebar cut out switch is off???
