there is a place in the market for chinesieum stuff but personally, it's not in the DT market
I'm glad it's not a 2 stroke or it would have probably been the same block and then there would be nothing but cheap sh!t in bikes sold and repaired by chavs even people that like DT's would do it just to save £££ and save time looking for genuine parts -
@terry-tz The ONLY saving grace for this bike is this.
If there were ever a shortage of road legal non category write off frames, at least we could transplant the DTR components to this frame.
Don't know how good the frame actually is mind you, the stock DTR is a beast.

@oldman I didn't expect you to be on the side for chinesieum I'm all for cheap bikes and parts but just not for older bikes or cars for that matter I think it's an insult to their design and unfortunately, I don't believe for a second they will be around longer dou to them cheap things being sold I think it will just aid in the loss of these bikes I'm not saying there is no market or that you should not buy China parts just don't agree with the chinesieum insult to the DT get use to chavs asking if you wont to sell your bike for £500 and them think its a good price for your immaculate Yamaha DT125R

Think you misunderstand my intended reasoning, I think that yamaha, honda, suzuki, etc are missing a big desire for retro small bikes, look at the big bike market and it's awash with retro styled machines. As for the chinese they have absolutely massive manufacturing infrastructure and many of the parts on mainstream bikes are produced in ROC, as are myriad consumer electronics and electric components. They are being pushed by their European and world customers to increase their quality control , this will be reflected by higher quality home designed and manufactured goods and sooner rather than later will be meeting demand on their own terms. Agree that copyright infringement is loathsome and no ,I would not want a chinese dt. But how long before a viable alternative China designed and manufactured machine appears?Aren't the cb125f and ybr125 made in chinese factories, Apple products, Triumph in Thailland or Malaysia? In my view the Japanese manufacturers are cutting their own throats by moving production to ROC, they have learnt over the decades the requirements and qc. demands of a world market and are now passing on their knowledge to a country that will no doubt become a competitor on a more or less even basis in the coming years.

@oldman since I've owned a dt I've realised that it's a stupid idea to make parts scarce since they are so popular I know that it sometimes makes it sweeter to get a pair of fairing that are rarer than a virgin but it would be much better if you could buy all genuine parts for a decent price

China's industrial revolution is an interesting one, they are still 30 years behind the West.
I know a bit with Injection moulding and tooling, just how SHITE Chinese design manufacturing can be and mostly is.

@louis-james there's probably grounds for it if you showed the pics to a novice you could pass it as a real dt but if you know them then you see the obvious differences
