Temp gauge trouble shooting

@terry-tz I got no idea how hot it gets I have no way of knowing I haven't used it since installing that cap

Also, when the bike is shut off, them temperature gauge isnt touching the water properly.
Mine was dead set at 20C yesterday, but so was actual temp.

@jens-eskildsen if you have the same one as me I'm certain that it will always be on 20 when cold

metals don't react very linearly at low and high temps this is a lie but not in a way that would be accurate in a small simple device or respond fast hence engine thermostats are sh!te I'm assuming they are made the same way so instead of opening they move the needle so it's probably just shit at low temps until like 40-50c total guess hope I'm not teaching to suck eggs I'm not knowledgeable on this subject just think it make's sense

Mine seems to work fine when tested, and very linear in movement, when compared to the one in the instrument.
They seem to follow each other fine.
For me, its well worth the few bucks.Test the gauge in the frigde/freezer, or in boiling water.

Okay, will chill mine today.
Just to clarify, the item seems to work flawlessly, and follows the needle in the dash.
Its not important what it reads when the bike is cold and is shut of, but will test just to see

Just tested in my frigde, it shows 11C, acutal temp is 5C.
In the shed it showed 30C, which was just about the actual temp as the sun was shining.So yeah, perhaps theres something about a slightly wrong reading (reading higher than it actually is) when cold. As I said, i didnt even notice, so nothing to worry about, I still think its nice to see actual temps in degrees, instead of just the needle.

@jens-eskildsen cool for doing the test man it's not like that amount of miss reading is an issue anyway and for £5 what can we expect there cool looking and informative if you have the patients do a hot test to if not il do one when I get mine

Around 20C just sitting, yeah... But again, thats not far from what it should be, as the actual temp is just in that neighbourhood

@jens-eskildsen I'm running a test on mine on a hot day it said I was on 95 when I got back that's too hot so I'm gonna boil it and see if it off and also in cold water it still reads 20

@declan so I got about 111.c for boiling point is it possible that it was reading the bottom of the pan not the actual water or does it not matter? I was expecting it to get to 120 as I believe the calibration is off

@declan so I re tested it with just theboiling water as a contact point and it still read 110 so I guess it's off by 10 degrees so let's say if I look down and it's reading 90 I'm actually running on 80
@declan 95 is not too hot in my opinion I don't really know what other people will say but everyone will say different on this matter I would say 120 is hot but I may say something else if I was on the bike as you can feel a difference when riding
also, 110c probably correct reading as 100c is for water tap water or any other water for that matter is not just water so I could be wrong but it might be a bit higher like 110c no point in mentioning pressure's ect so because temperature can and will go above 100c and will be a different number every day the test would have to have a thermometer so the cap is a
ok so now that's said don't worry about 100c in your radiator pressure alone will raise this but you should have some antifreeze in your coolant anyway so unless you were like plodding along at about 60 / 6th gear or some thing you engine is not too hot hope all this makes sense
