Hi guys and gals. Wondering if anyone knows what might be causing my neutral and oil light to be permanently on when riding? My bike is a 2007 re. Also, I’ve tried posting a pic of my bike from my iPhone, is that possible because I’ve tried every permutation and cannot do it.

@col29 Hi and welcome, nice RE you have. The neutral & oil lights should turn off once you are out of neutral, if not then it's most likely a bad or corroded connection, a loose wire, a blown fuse or a ground is no longer earthing that circuit. If you get a Haynes manual and check all the wires associated from the wiring diagrams, until you find the culprit. 😉

What Ninja said, oil light will be on when in neutral so you know it is working. If it stays on when in gear check your oil level, if it's filled to a reasonable amount then perhaps a loose or corroded connection is the culprit. To be honest I'm actually not sure how it works, maybe someone out there will know exactly how it's all wired up.

Neutral light runs off a switch inside the gearbox, runs along the selector drum. Oil light is just a float that sits inside the tank.

Thanks guys, gives me something to go on. I’ll reply again once I find the culprit, could be a while though, I bloody hate motor electrics 🤨

@col29 Electrics are always a PITA for-sure. Just be methodical and follow the wires back looking for cut's, fault's and rusted grounds etc.
