Re-building Shocks?

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with getting a company to rebuild and refurbish shocks? My WR250's shock absorber is pretty much shot, feels like a marshmallow and well being a 2-stroke from 92 I can't really find anything original that's like new and then I bumped into Brooksuspension?Supposedly, they'll refurbish my shock and send it right back for £156. Honestly, doesn't seem too expensive and it means I keep the original shock which I would rather do than buy a new shock that would fit but bother me since it wouldn't be pink lol

If it’s a company it should be good. Any shock is rebuildable, even the Dtr ones, it’s just sourcing the right piston head and the shim/washer things that control oil flow on the compression and rebound that controls damping. That and the top seal...
For the price I’d want it cleaned and the spring repainting/placing. It should be like new. Let us know how you get on... -

@Stevie-Wonder As always with any re-manufacturer, it's can be a gamble sometimes? But at least with sites like eBay, and Amazon you can look at the buyer feedback, to get an idea of others experience. You just have to look at their reputation and feedback scores, plus theirs always Paypal protection as well.
It can be subjective with silly negative feedback left over petty gripes, but at least with eBay, Amazon and Paypal you do get some buyer protection. Their feedback seems mostly positive, so it's a case of taking the plunge I guess???

There was a dtr200 adjustable shock on fleabay that has been there forever. It was always listed at about £100, I think. It was open to offers, I got the bloke down to £30 (his offer) but wasn’t that bothered unless I could get it for next to nothing (£20 inc postage iirc). Have a look. There’s one for £60 that looks like the same one... -

I even messaged him to see if he’d trade some parts I weren’t using . Dumb I know but even thoughI know it’s not the best but it’d be a damn sight better then the stock shock and no where near as annoying as a nice set of USD’s and just your standard DTR shocker in the rear. It also doesn’t have a fix baggy back carrier which is a god send for me right now.
I’m wasnt too fussed on the condition because I don’t plan on it being permanent unless it’s surprisingly and the fact it actually works.I’d actually give someone a good trade or cash + some profit if they bought it off him just to save it for me.
I’ve got a 4DL P barrel head i dug up a while back in good conditions that’s gotta be worth 40-60 I’d trade

1000% I’m interested dude! In fact if that was you that just grabbed it thanks a lot man, you genuinely made my day
As I said above I desperately need a new rear shock to accompany the forks and swingarm.
It’s really about the only part I don’t have to build my bike to be honest ️Thank you by the way, did you want to hold onto it for me or trade it for the P head I had?

I’ll see what happens, keep your fingers crossed... -
