@SpookDog
The servo motor is ok isn’t it ? For the powervalve to be gummed up and it’s not opening is a bit suspect, as the servo can apply quite a bit of force and if it’s not it might on its way out. ? Then again is the battery ok and alternator charging ok ? -
It was proper sticky with black crud. Cleaned it up with some degreasant. I’ll have to keep my eye on it in the near future...

@Scootjockey
Yeah. The engine seems to run fine (even good!) with the 2T synthetic oil I’ve been using. It’s only the power valve that’s suffering. Also I wasn’t sent the Oil I was expecting, I ended up with ‘Smith Alan’. I didn’t take any notice of the packaging, just that it was synthetic and approved. My embarrassing fuckup!...
I’m going back to Castrol for the foreseeable future... -
The power valve started sticking again a day after. I switched back to castrol R1 and it has cleared up nicely...
The bike itself ran fine with the oil, it was just the power valve was gumming up with a thick, sticky varnish. Not power valve friendly! I still want to try Exol oil at some point...
-
Stripped and replaced the clutch side main oil seal. It looked fine, but on removal there was gear oil on the bottom of the main bearing. Brown, not red...
Bike definitely feels different as well. The tick over has altered so I’m gonna have to tweak the airscrew, which I don’t think I’m very good at The revs seem to pick up much ‘cleaner’ as well...

Also replaced the EBC uprated clutch springs with the original ones, the clutch is as light as a feather!. Downshifting is a lot less clunky since I adjusted the basket/pressure plate ...
Also my progressive springs have finally arrived and been posted! I really want a second hand set of forks to use either for the upgrade, or to use while the others are stripped for powder coating, ect...
-
@SpookDog Oh awesome, I run the EBC Springs and after a short while of riding I don't bother with the clutch, just let off the throttle.
The problem I was worried about was once you start increasing the vehicles power you may run into clutch troubles. But total overkill for stock systems.

@Calum
My thinking was that an unrestricted motor might need uprated springs, but it seems absolutely fine with standard springs...The HyperPro springs actually look like a top knotch product. I was a bit dubious at first, like I am with any fleabay listing, but they come with copious instructions, fork oil & fork grease for the bottom of the stantions that sit in the lower legs. Plus they are properly well packaged...
Made in Holland for 89 ~ 06 model Dtr/e’s, which was one of my worries ... -
Still haven’t fitted the new top & bottom bushes, new seals and progressive springs to the forks yet. I want to buy a used pair of forks to renovate and powder coat without taking my bike off the road...
Still waiting for Henrique Romeu to post my exhaust as well...
Waiting for some money to buy a new front tyre (Kenda 90-90 21in) to match the new rear 4.00 18 I already have brought...My mongrel bike is still running really well at the moment, no head gasket issues 🤪 as soon as I get financially viable I’m gonna get a PJME rebore and maybe an oring conversion to the barrel. I am also going to rebuild another bottom end with new bearings all through. I have genuine crank seals, and am gonna get all koyo bearings with the best quality oil seals I can get for the rest of the bottom end. I’ve sourced another good condition crank (that I may get rebuilt with bearings and con rod if money willing)...
Swing arm and linkage bearings are all holding up since I replaced them 2 years ago, but I do want to replace them with koyo bearings and quality (if genuine seals can’t be found) seals because I got them from fleabay when I did the overhaul when I first got my basket case 🥴
I will get my shit together eventually -
Best of luck! I’m looking forward to hearing a detailed explanation of how that Romeu pipe performs, I’ve been tempted myself and he’ll also do you a custom pipe spec’d for a WR200 with DTR mounts.
Also those kenda tyres are based of an old Dunlop design that would’ve originally come on some model DTR’s. They are highly regarded and going to be my next purchase for my other bike. I’ve not seen a better road / trail tire yet. Only a few contenders like the pirelli mt21’s or Dunlop d952’s
-
I’ll let you know when I get the pipe, with pics!...
I put Pirelli MT something (24?!) ‘rally cross’ tyres originally on my bike. They were total shite in my opinion! I don’t say that lightly, they were really uncomfortable on the road. It was like riding a pneumatic road drill 🤨 I had absolutely no confidence cornering with them on road. In fairness I think they were truly 50~50 orientated, so were to specific for my use. Also the rubber was a lot harder than the Kenda tyres I’ve gone through...

Gutted! Finally found a set of forks complete with yokes and spindle on fleabay for a decent price £50 + 20 postage! And the bloke ‘won’t receive bids or offers’ from me! Meaning I can’t ‘buy it now’ even! 🤨
Only to me ... -
