    @calum the loom is good enough for it to start, all the ignition system is still intact. None of the lights work tho.

    It doesn't want to start properly. I had it running for a couple minutes then it died. I think the spark is too weak

      @ksk-04 Yeah, what I am saying is, if the loom is damaged, then we could be chasing our tails with all the permutations of what could be wrong, with it ending up being the loom.

      You've said, the loom is trash, so I'd start with making sure the loom isn't trash.

        @calum okay, thanks!
        I'll start testing for continuity on every wire and see if I find something

          @ksk-04 Won't just be continuity. The side stand switch causes problems if it's not wired in correctly. A quick search on this site should show countless people falling into that trap.

          My advice stands, get yourself a Haynes manual and systematically go through the loom putting it back to factory. If you don't it will be very hard to fault diagnose.

            @calum is it supposed to be a relay or something for the side stand switch next to the neutral switch? I have some wires hanging loose there with no plug

              If the loom is that bad personally I'd just get a new one if they are still available.

              The wires on old looms can become quite brittle and often the wires / connectors etc get full of that green corrosion

              Obviously though you need the money for a loom 😉

                            @ksk-04 Probably not, not sure what was changed between the years. Again, the Haynes manual will know.

                              That sounds like the right one...

                              Check where the wires come out above the gear change lever. The magnetic pickup wires can become bare where they pass through the rubber...

                              You should have a good strong bright continues spark when you give it a good kick over. Not just one or two weak sparks. Try getting an irridium plug for a stronger spark...
