@SpookDog i also looked under the speedo and there is a white little box with blue and green red wire coming out of it. i tought it was a light but when i looked it had a little space between 2 metal thingies in it and it was covered with glass. Is that the reed switch?

      @Mr-Shadi

I’m going to say yes. I’ve never seen one myself but it’s matching every description I’ve heard 🙂
You just have to move it away from the back of the rev counter/speedo clock and isolate it from them…

Do you have a rev counter and a speedo? Or just the speedo? I always thought that the reed-switch/bulb was behind the rev counter, but I could be wrong….

@SpookDog i have both. i isolated it with electric tape but it still dosent let me go over 80km/h and now the rev limiter can be heard. when i put in 5 gear it wount rev over 6k and same 6 th gear. and sometimes it dosent let me rev over 6k in all the gears but sometimes it does. i dont know what to do.

Have you moved the bulb as far away as you could from where it was? I thought it was behind the rev counter?
What country are you in? Is the bike native to your country? I’ve never heard of a dt125rn!

Try putting it back and seeing if the bike at least ‘settles down’!…

At least something is happening, even if it’s not what you want! It can (sometimes!) help to diagnose the problems 🙂 …

Have you reconnected the CDI wiring up properly? The reed switch tells the CDI when the bikes doing 60mph then the CDI restricts the revs…

Get it all running properly before even trying to de-restrict it…

Also disconnecting the speedo cable should work, as the bike won’t ‘know’ it’s doing 60…

@SpookDog i have looked over the wiring and its good and the cdi wiring is good, but the reed switch wires were broken at one point and i melted the wires together with a soldering iron.
But im doing a full rebuild in a couple of months then ill know if something is broken and i think i will document it here.

@Mr-Shadi i moved the reed switch, cut wires and did a lot of things but when the reed is out of its slot the bike won't rev over 6k in 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th gear, but when the reed is in its slot it only doesn't rev when 80km/h. I even pulled the reed out a little bit and it didnt rev over 6k. Very weird

That is weird! It’s good that you’re experimenting with it…
I think that you might have the one that needs a CDI wire cut and earthed. I’ll try and do some reading and let you know 🙂 …

Look for a green/black wire on your CDI unit. Let me know if you find one…

@SpookDog i think if i take the other bikes wiring diagram with black green and then my wiring diagram and then determine witch wire does what. like compare the wire colors for example its bike has red wire as power mine has orange. just a example not reality.

Just counted CDI wires on the 3rn diagram in my Haynes manual and it says 11 wires from the CDI. How many have you got?…
I’m just curious cause it doesn’t show the reed switch or any wiring to the speedo on the diagram, guess they wouldn’t show the restriction though! 🙂 …

@SpookDog i also looked under the speedo and there is a white little box with blue and green red wire coming out of it. i tought it was a light but when i looked it had a little space between 2 metal thingies in it and it was covered with glass. Is that the reed switch?

@Mr-Shadi this is a reed switch. If you look at it, it looks to be a broken fuse. When the speedo hits 61 mph it sends an electro magnetic signal and closes the switch which retards the ignition and closes the powervalve back up. Either move it far away from the clocks so the magnet can't reach it or cut it off and keep the wires apart.

@markus-w if i cut it off the bike wount rev over 6k and if i move it it randomly restricts it to 6k rpm. then i need to come to a stop and it revs over 6k.
