@Darty What did they put that in?

I love the 122/3 because of their availability. They were put into thousands of carts/bikes. They have loads of tuning parts and were raced world wide.

Apparently, for the street illegal 125, the Rotax 257 fits the RS125 frame, and presumably the SMX...

Looks as though it was fitted to the AF1 Aprilia.

One of my favourite aprilias, but frails in spec when you compare it to the later models...

I picked up a set of mx/rx forks for cheap.

I will be including them in project tdr 😉
Running a xt660 320 rotor and 4 pot Brembo caliper if all goes to plan.

@CYBER-NINJA have you ever changed the seals on your mx usds and was the process fairly simple?.

        Cheers Bro

@tdr125greg No I have not, you can get a CD-Rom workshop manual off ebay, which may have the instructions on how to do it???

They look very beastly, I'm not a fan of sports bikes, but that sure looks sweet. I bet there very rare now and hard to get hold of for-sure???

@CYBER-NINJA I'd say the TDR is more of a dual sport than it is a sports bike, nice sit upright posistion.

I like to think of the TDR's as the first of the baby sumos without it actually being a supermoto lol this is the inspiration behind my build I'm attempting a remodel kinda thing rather than a rebuild ;).

OH BOY where does the time go??? 😞

I have been somewhat busy acquiring some new and used spare parts for this bike, I'll post some pics of my (dodgey) dealings shortly.

I bought a job lot of parts which included a frame, would anyone be interested in that at all???

There's lots of allen bolts on this bike and much to my annoyance and frustration at previous owners, (The air was very very blue!!!). So I spent most of the day trying to remove stripped bolts. I won most of the battles I'm happy to report, Honestly has no-one ever heard of copper slip? But sadly I broke the rear hub on a spare set of wheels I have bought, trying to get one of those pesky disc bolts out. 😡 😡 😡

@calum That was my last resort, sadly mine had blue thread lock on them as I was actually able to get one of them out. I tried several methods but decided to give the impact driver a go and sadly snapped the bolt lug off the hub. The hubs are obviously made from aluminium to save weight.

I was actually referring too all the other bolts holding on fairings, exhausts pipes, radiators etc and not the disc bolts, just in case anyone mis-read my post? All those bolts would be fine with a drop of copper slip on them for-sure. 😉

@ninja it’s strange an impact gun snapping something I’ve used mine on all sizes and never broke anything

With regards to the discs, they're subjected to such high temperatures that any grease or what not tends to evaporate, the bolt can then meld with the differing metals.

@ninja if they've been threadlocked, then you need to warm them up to melt it. Will come out easy then

Just aout all hubs are aluminium, no surprice there.

Next time add heat, if that doesnt do it, drill the head of. 🙂

I did use heat from a blow torch but they still would not budge. I suspect that @Calum is right and the bolts are melded to the hub. Aprilia hubs have lugs like petals sticking out for the bolts to screw into, so there's not a great deal of support their. Sadly the hub is now worthless and will need replacing for-sure. You win some and you lose some, that's just life really.
