What kinda fuel do you use on a dt my last one I was running high octane

exhaust is filled
no

stale petrol
no, but change anyway not a good thing when you have carb problems

What kinda fuel
any for me I did always run v-power or super at bp but in the DT I'm not bothered

I mean it goes to die before it's warm to keep it going I have to keep the throttle on but anyway just took for a little test ride without the snorkel and was a massive improvement but powervalve still won't kick it it goes to then starts to bog but stays running and it's actually rideable
Fuck sake.
When the engine starts to die, turn the choke off.
Regardless of Terry's bike, or anyone elses, I know from personal experience that my bike never started without choke. Needed it for about 30 seconds, or until it's about to die off. Then choke off. Then ride it until it's up to temperature.
-
I'll take it for a longer ride later with some fresh fuel and see how it is as didn't take it very far earlier and go from their as bike hasn't been riden in about 2 months and only done 30miles on new piston
-
@vtrn_raptor Not being funny. My DT was off the road two years. Literally kicked it over on a brand new engine and road it fine.
Same fuel, didn't even bother charging the battery.
So I doubt it's the fuel really.
-
Fuck sake.
calm down I didn't contradict you pal every bike has its own character and our bikes are clearly different I did not say it's bad or good I just said mine starts fine cold without choke runs sweet with a nice brown tinge to the tip now I played a bit with the carb im just saying to him don't worry about that its a sign, not an issue
-
@terry-tz Nah not aimed at you bud.
I said in my previous post that once it starts to die down he needs to take the choke off. Choke is just for that initial few moments.
I was annoyed because it seemed like he didn't read my post. Wasn't digging at you bud.
-
I did read it just thought you meant it was supposed to stay running with it on
-
@vtrn_raptor Nope. Once it starts to die off, that's when choke is not needed.
I remember when I was a wee lad going to school, I used to start the DT, choke on, by the time I walked to lock the house, put my thermals on, the bike had cut out. So needed to start it with choke off.
Doesn't take long.
-
I've learnt that every bikes different kept comparing this one to my last one and boy what a mistake that was
-
My DTR would never start without the choke on, even when the engine was hot. It was always choke on, kick start, then either run for a bit when cold or choke off as soon as I had my helmet and gloves on when the engine was previously warm. I just assumed that was how it was???
-
That's what i thought with my last Dt wouldn't start without choke had to keep choke on till it was warm could have been down to the fact it was a 170 but god knows that bike met it's bitter end when I trusted a garage with it and the Prick killed it then denied doing anything bad to it
-
@vtrn_raptor Those 170 kits were actually pretty bullet proof.
-
Wasn't after the garage got hold of it
-
-
This is what the plug looks like now after riding and running for about 15 mins
-
@vtrn_raptor camera not focused properly but that defo looks like it's wet and oily and low temp so over fueling
-
@vtrn_raptor did you try without the side case
-
Not just yet but I have a question what is the throttle needle for and can the position it's in cause a problem
