weird thing is that my headlight still dims when I put the brake light on, even though it's battery powered!! I have another rectifier to try off of a later Yam. I don't know enough about the electrics to really understand them. I'd actually prefer headlights 'balanced' by the battery!...

Does anyone have any experience with gel batteries? I know that they need special chargers to charge them, but do they charge properly off of the bikes system? Apparently they need a steady trickle charge...

I wouldn't of believed it if I hadn't seen it! It was a third down on liquid! I'm not sure what to get next. Im definitely going to up it to a 9amp battery. It's just whether its gonna be gel or liquid acid...

It's easy to get the carb into the inlet with the clip on though. More hassle fitting it after IMO. It's the airbox side that's the bitch!...
My only real tip would be fitting the carb top with alen bolts. Makes life easier not having to tilt the carb to fit or remove. Means you can fit or remove it any time even with carb fitted tight in place...
Oh yeah! If youre gonna. Just blank the coolant outs at the head with allen bolts and copper washers. Less to fail...

If it's winter I use a hair dryer to soften the rubbers first...
Put a bit of 2 stroke oil on the carb in & outlets. Loosen the airbox mounting bolts and push back as far as possible. (Without the slide and carb top fitted) Fit carb to inlet first. I then slide the airbox side rubber over the carb.If its a bitch i use a medium flathead screwdriver (that i have smoothed the edges off of) I then fit the jubilee type clip to the airbox/inlet side of the carb, because it gets in the way if left on the rubber. Fit the slide and carb top. Tighten up inlet clip and airbox bolts and enjoy!!...
It's one of my least favourite jobs cause I've done it so fekin often!...

The difference between a 3.50 standard tyre and a 4.00 is a half inch. I corrected that gearing on my bike by dropping 1 tooth from 17 to 16. If you have a 17 front cog try searching ebay for a 15 tooth Jt front dtr125 sprocket. They are about 6 quid...
Whether you drop the front or raise the rear, its still the same. You are lowering the gearing. You want it 'shorter'...

Can only be the float needle valve. Probably the oring on the brass insert that the needle sits in. Unless you've fucked with the float hight?
