Airbox holder guide foam has seen better daysHello
Went to do a service on my DT125RE and when going to replace air filter the Airbox holder guide foam material is all falling apart
https://ibb.co/MyQXNL8w
https://ibb.co/84PwwMgf
https://ibb.co/yFJsF8VsHaving a look online fowlers want £55!
Part number 3BN-14459-00
Has anyone ran without the foam on that part and just relied on the actual air box filter?
Or Should I just remove any loose bits and keep using it or is it really worth replacing ?
Many thanks -
Powervalve ‘squeeking’Sorry for late reply
Thank you
We carefully took it apart and greased it back up and running nice now, the bike is so much more responsive and acceleration is a lot better

Powervalve ‘squeeking’![What’s causing my DT125RE Powervalve to make these noises and how do I sort it? Is the servo on its way outt
Was working fine the other day
Powervalve seems to be operating fine, just got 2 different nasty squeek when turning ignition on and when pulling away
Notice the 2 different types of the “squeeking” in the vid
Cheers

Regulator/rectifier went up in smokeSorry late reply, only got round to putting new plug on the other day but yeah no worries man
Replacement plug worked nicely. I replaced the regulator/rec and starter solenoid with oem parts as well and started lovely off the button. No more clicking from the starter solenoid or dodgy aftermarket rectifier going up in smoke
Cheers

Regulator/rectifier went up in smokeLooks like I got it sorted hopefully.
Yamaha Facebook group got reccomened some companies.
Will post links up for anyone else in the future and will update if workshttps://kojaycat.co.uk/epages/950000457.mobile/sec66767ef64f/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950000457/Products/US4W-BLK-Conn - I chose this one US4W-BLK-Conn
Also other product numbers for above website :
4W-250-CNA , 4W-CNA-NAT
Then another website below got linked this which might work

Regulator/rectifier went up in smokeThanks for that. I didn’t think about doing that.
I just checked and part numbers for regualtor / Rec on dt125re are
1D0H196001
Replaces 1D0-H1960-00Will look tomorrow I I can find other models using the same part
As mentioned above though I won’t need to buy another regulator if the spare I have works fine but definitely good idea if not or if something breaks in the future
Cheers

Regulator/rectifier went up in smokeHad a quick look atm but struggling to find anything similar atm that would fit. All different styles isnt there and you have to remember the regulator pins have a plastic wall around them so would probably need to modify that as well and different style might not stay on where it most likely wont fit the same ‘locking pin bit on the reg’
Will keep looking and worse comes to worse I’ll just chop it off this spare loom lol.

Regulator/rectifier went up in smoke@Calum and
Thanks for getting back to me both of you
Ah right…Does sound like it most likely was the cheap regulator then. And potentially the clicking starter solonoid didn’t help.
I’ve actually just went up the loft to my box of DT125X spares and come across another regulator with the same stamp on the back as my old original one so hopefully that should do the trick. Also rather than using my aftermarket starter solonoid which just got delivered I’ve just found a spare original one.
In my box of spares there’s also a spare loom with the 4 pin plug I will need. Before I chop it off to use, do you know if I can buy this plug online? To save chopping a good condition loom
I’ve linked pictures and the plug I could do with.

Regulator/rectifier went up in smokeHello everyone
Had a bit of a nightmare with the DT125RE. Was fixing sticky throttle issue, sorted that and then had it running for around 10 mins.
After 10 mins of running I gave it a good rev and all of a sudden lots of smoke from under the tank and it was the regulator/rectifier. Luckily tank and seat wasn’t tightened, quickly turned off bike removed them and hosed it down. Didn’t catch alight.
Now could I get your thoughts to why this has happened and advice please to go about sorting this. Obviously won’t be trying anything with the burnt out regulator on it now.
Things worth noting..
- Aftermarket £30 rectifier/reg was put on September last year as couldn’t get OEM as they don’t sell anymore. Replaced back then as battery wasn’t charging and this solved the issue.
- Starter Solenoid does click and took a few attempts of it clicking for it to turn over ? Not sure if overtime that would burn out the regulator? (Was literally waiting for new one in post)
- Whilst running for a good 10 mins the starter was accidentally pressed whilst tightening hand controls after fixing sticky throttle. Shortly after it was then I gave it a good rev then started smoking.
- Earths all seemed good
- Red wire to regulator 4 pin plug burnt out
- Checked battery voltage and was 12 volts
Do you think it was just a faulty eBay regulator? What checks can we do? My mate says he has a power probe to check the voltages btw but will need guidance
Do you know if I can get a replacement 4 pin plug for the regulator/rectifier as like I say it is slightly damaged from where it got hot?
Links if poss please?Looking online it seems a common thing over various bikes and that the regulator /rectifier is at fault.
Would appreciate your advice. Obviously Don’t want it happening again. Just lucky I didn’t get chance to go for a ride with it all bolted down..
Cheers

Swingarm and shock bearings and bushesYeah replaced that mate. Only thing I didn’t replace is the bolt going through there, number 17 on diagram, the two dog bone bolts and shock bushes as bought second hand shock as couldn’t get parts and they seemed all good.
Will check it over again and update on here.
Someone else on fb said they had similar problem

Swingarm and shock bearings and bushesOk mate cheers
Well I won’t bother riding it and we’re go over it again in the week and see if we can get it to zero play.
Cheers

Swingarm and shock bearings and bushesAlright guys me again lol, replaced pretty much everything rear suspension wise including linkage bushes and seals using genuine Yamaha parts apart from wemoto slinky kit for arm but there is still is the slightest up and down play in the rear arm?
Is it normal for a tiny bit of up and down play or is it worth stripping down again and investigating?
Wondering if my mates torque wrench could be out of sync too?
Not up for years time being loads of play again loldidn’t replace the dog bone bolts as they seemed all good, and bushes on shock were tight
Cheers -
Swingarm and shock bearings and bushesHaha I’m trying to save good for a house and already got a newish golf and a ninja 600 to look after as well so won’t be buying no gas shock unfortunately lol.
Ah thank you for the offer mate and for you looking yourself to find me a second hand one! Very kind of you man
I’ve had a look at that RE one on ebay , messaged him to make sure the bushes feel nice which he says they are so I’ve gone and bought it so I don’t have to faff about any more trying to solve this lol. Thanks again man!
I got an aftermarket speedo and speedo don’t always work (wish I kept original but was young and stupid lol) but I reckon it’s only on around 15k lol! I have taken it offroading a lot though in the past
had the bike getting on 12 years now lolLet’s hope this shocks all good then just gotta do some of the other bushes with my mate then it will be good to ride again
Cheers -
Swingarm and shock bearings and bushesThanks for the torques settings mate
Here’s links to the SACHS shock photos and half of it pressed out. My mate says we might struggle to find similar bushes as it has rubber on the inside and splines on the end to keep it in place into the olive and need replacement seals.
Does seem looking online more that it looks very likely that the dt125re / X was supplied with this shock from factory. But when looking on parts diagrams it’s different and doesn’t mention any of these bits so that I could easily go buy them?
Have you got any ideas mate?
Have thought about sourcing a second hand dt125 re SACHS shock, but they could be worn too and would be unable to source the bits in future?
I can see online that dt125r shock is completely different in dimensions but will fit an RE frame? But even then on the parts diagram to them it doesn’t show that ball swivel you mentioned, just two bushes each side?https://ibb.co/KWr8FrF

Please can anyone help lol?
