Dt125re starter relay problems I think!
-
Hi guys having a really annoying problem with my dt125re
When pressing the electric start button all I get is a click and the same click again when releasing the button, iv checked all fuses and swapped battery still just clicking?
Bike will bump start no problem just not ideal. Especially after 12 hour shift running down car park with it.
I’ve checked start solenoid/relay, what my mate reckons it’s that but iv read if it clicks it still works
Any help much appreciated as the bikes look a state at the minute ![0_1518255274899_image.jpg](Uploading 11%)

Hi there,
You'll have to get a multimeter out to check whether or not it's the relay. Sometimes this occurs when there isn't enough current flowing. This could be due to wires wiggling lose so be sure to check for any lose wires.
I'd also recommend retro fitting a kick start to your engine, it'll will be worth it in the long run.
Usually they're scarce but it would seem there is a lot on the market at the moment. That last one comes with the idle gear which you will need.
You will also need a kick start lever as well.
Test the relay with a meter and see if it's going open when you press the button.
It could also be bad contacts on the starter switch, they are after all exposed to the elements.

It should be one of thesse things:
- Bad battery
- Bad relay, it can be sooted inside, so its still clicking and "working", but no connection is made.
You can hook up a big wire from the + on the battery, directly to the starter motor as a test. If the starter motor turns over, the battery should be fine. Beware,it will spark a bit because of the high amp draw from the startermotor.

See if the starter is properly earthed.
