Athena 170

@irongamer727 Before you mess with the settings, try stifling the airbox, restrict the air box, see if that makes it better or worse. Or take the snorkel out. That'll give you a hint as to what the problem is.
-
@irongamer727 Either way it doesn't sound right.
If it were fueling, it would start if you opened the throttle ajar.

@irongamer727 Better carb mate.
I had issues with my Athena as well. Carb sorted that out.
I had issues with the stock cylinder. Carb sorted that out.

If I only had a kickstart...
-
@irongamer727 That's what you want mate.
That'll fix your problem guaranteed!
I literally don't know why the original carb sucks balls lol.

Things are not going my way. 180km into break in I spotted 2 small holes on the cylinder. I have spoken to the company I bought the kit from and they will contact Athena for assistance. Hopefully this ends well..

What do you think? I've now fitted a 310 main jet and she's still a bit down on power. It felt better than the 290 for sure. Now I'm thinking about buying a couple of extra jets, 320-350.
Is this even possible? I've not spoken to anyone running higher than 280. -
If using a TM28 carb then need a 300 main jet with a 27.5 idle jet. Main jets go up to 430. Put clip in the bottom groove on needle.

@2stroketerry I'm running 310 now and it's certainly not optimal. Idle is 35 now, definitely too big.
-
In reality, what would cause the bike not to start on the first or second spin on the starter. Is it just down to the pilot jet and fuel/Air mix?
Obviously a good battery and fresh electric components will make things easier but I got that covered.I've read in the Haynes that there is supposed to be a starter jet in the later carbs? Much of what that books says makes no sense...

I run the autolube on my dt125r bottom end with wr200 top end. I just adjusted it to suit the larger capacity. I've run it for years. Autolube is brilliant

@louis-james hows that thing to start?
