Forced the valve open while engine running and goes like stink top end. Have noticed since I done that and tuned the ignition off and on and start engine it starts to move as it should for a few revs then stops moving again. I'm taking a guess it's the solenoid?

@thechompster It's a motor on these. So could be the brushes.

Are you sure the valve isn't just gunked up.

Would be worth dismantling the assembly and cleaning it thoroughly.

@calum it could possibly be gunked up but would it not move when you turn the ignition on?

@thechompster No, just take the two powervalve end caps off. The offside powervalve housing has a bolt to keep the two pieces together, make sure you don't lose the locating dowels as they're prone to falling out. You'll want to lubricate it with WD40.

Took the exhaust off. A bit dirty in there but rotates easy enough. Goes through the cleaning process nice and easy so all I can do now is change the servo and hope it sorts it.

Odd that it'll do the cleaning cycle fine but not run right.

I'd be more inclined to say faulty CDI more than anything. I guess these bikes are just starting to show their age.

@calum yeah I guess they are.apart from that it runs lovely. Will change the servo. If that doesn't do it just the cdi left I guess.

A friend had a faulty servo, sometime during a ride where the PV was open, it would leave it open. Other times just seem erratic. I believe the gears in the servo was toast.

@thechompster does it have the resistor in it the 'r' in the spark plug type as this can cause issues with the operation of the valve

I've always ran br9eix on my bikes with no isses.

I think that's the one at least.

@thechompster my mistake, I meant without the 'r' lol if it hasn't got the resistor in it the valve finds a mind of its own. You can hear the exhaust note change as you ride
