It definitely warrants better treatment!
Poor things always seem to corrode under the pipe, before the clamp...
But yeah! Bung it on!!...
PS. You gonna lacquer the bottom yoke?...
-
@mhbikesnbits still won't take long to lose the shine. Lacquer would work well. It looks really good polished and I really don't want to come across like I'm picking but would it not look better with the top and bottom yokes the same colour? IE both black with the chrome forks? Personal preference I know but I'm trying to picture it in my head.
-
@markus-w maybe this will give you abit more of idea what it would look like,
I have a little think about the lacquering and my only issue is paint doesn’t like smooth surfaces so would it end up getting lacquer peel ?
-
@mhbikesnbits fair enough it is the yz look you are going for. Does look good.
-
@mhbikesnbits yes I know what you're saying about peeling because that would look awful. I polished my brake calipers and opted against lacquer for that reason. But I realised after that they use lacquer on alloy wheels on cars, not sure which lacquer but that doesn't peel.
-
@mhbikesnbits Yes! That looks so good polished!
I am looking forward to seeing this progress!
Keep up the updates.

Not sure about the silver, I have seen them on the standard silver engines but in black and they look good so I thought I would inverse that.
Think I will get one done in black powder coat
-
I would bud. I mean that lump looks sooo good powder coated black that I’m sure I’m gonna do the same on my next visit to the paint fairy. I’m thinking of black camouflage. Either black on black (satin on matt) with near~gloss accents if the two tones ain’t enough, or urban camouflage black white and grey. With the frame an off white, maybe cream/antique colour...
I’ve already got all the black plastic and another tank and seat. So it wouldn’t mean the death of the blue and yellow ...
-
Spent the day tidying my workshop and doing some work on it and managed to pick this little beauty up for £20 which will help with the maintenance work and other stuff.
Hopefully I’ll manage to drop the engine on the frame over the Easter weekend
-
Recycled degreasant solvents? Top kit!...
I always end up using a washing up bowl and paraffin for when I split engines down, like a caveman
-
oh no! Something happened!
Don’t know how I’m going to be able ride this when it’s all done it’s looking pretty dam good!
I love how the black looks against the red.

@mhbikesnbits looks so pucker with it in the frame!
This is going to be a lovely build when it's done!
