          Does sound like a rev limiter. Is anyone else getting frustrated with language barriers? 😵‍💫

          Need someone with better knowledge about the rev counter ‘bulb’ and more patience to explain than me, anyone?…

          Someone translate scrimstangs site, maybe?…

            @Mr-Shadi the 1997 doesn't have the reed switch. It has a restricted CDI. Maybe change it for the older 3nc CDI. But you should be getting a lot more than 80kmh. Something else isn't right for sure.

              @markus-w i can hear the spark plug not getting spark when it goes above 80 km/h. But it takes a a little while for it to start not getting spark (3 to 7 seconds). And when i disconnected one of three cdi wire connectors and went on the road to try again. The restrictor sound was different and started right after 80km/h with no delay, unlike if the connector was connected.

                Hello.

                I just bought myself a new Yamaha dt 125 r, and i want to derestrict it. But when i looked at the derestriction guide and then at my bike, the cdi wire colors were different. And I've been searching for a other guide to derestrict it but there is none.
                When I'm in the last gear the bike won't go over 80 km/h. If it goes i can hear the spark plug not getting spark and getting spark when its back at 80 km/h.
                If anyone could help me, it would be appreciated.

                    Isn’t there a later model that needs a CDI wire cutting & earthing somewhere? Or is that a Tzr?…

                    I’m sorry Mr-Shadi, I don’t know too much about later than 1995 model dtr125’s, other than what I have read. What country is your bike from? I’m guessing that english isn’t your first language?
                    I’ll do a bit of reading and try to find out about 1997 bikes…

                    Edit: 4dl Germany! Got it!

                        The DTRE has a green and black wire, once earthed that's all the electrical restrictions and then the bike revs off the clocks.

                          I’m worried that he might have the one with the ‘silver box behind the 2T oil tank’ that needs loads of faffing about! I tried getting scrims guide up but kept getting a 401 error!…

                            @SpookDog 401? That's Unauthorized

                            Right, yeah I don't know about that one. I only really researched the one for my bike.

                            Best thing to do is get a Zeeltronic ignition system for it and you're laughing.

                                  @SpookDog i don't seem to have a silver box behind the oil tank. The only silverish/grayish box is the voltage regulator.

                                          @Mr-Shadi Sure, but some models of DTRs were heavily restricted via the CDI, so you're literally gimped until you replace it with either a less restrictive CDI or an aftermarket one.
