@nottsbiker Well he can't it's not running right it bogs out and dies.

Sounds like a fueling issue to me.

What's the colour of the plug bud?

        Is it smoking heavily?

I did originally suggest checking the wiring and carb 😉

@vtrn_raptor Right, I don't think you're really addressing the problem though.

You need to understand why it's not running right, rather than just swapping components out.

I get the impression, and I could be entirely wrong, that you're changing out components willy

These bikes are so simple, it should only cost a tenth of that to sort this bike out, £2500 would have been a full restoration budget, not "get it running" perse.

As Terry Said, pictures and videos would be so helpful to us, if that's too much then, dare I say it, maybe just take it to a bike specialist. It literally shouldn't cost you that much to get it running.

I feel like you need a better understanding of the core concepts to these bikes, and maybe I suggest reading about two stroke engines in general might help.

You literally should be able to get the engine running sweet on a bench with very minimal tools.

From your vague description, it sounds like a jetting issue. And I don't mean replace the carb, I mean ensure that the end to end system has been installed to factory specifications.

Return the bike back to how it was out the factory, get a haynes manual, look up the specs, get it boggo standard. That's the easiest way to get it running right. Then bolt on tuning parts one at a time jetting accordingly.

Well I'm just going to take it somewhere reliable I think and get it done professionally as everything I've replaced was needed and still won't run right so shouldn't cost me much putting into a shop as brought all the expensive stuff

@vtrn_raptor do what you think best mate it's a safe option but personally, I think you would be better off doing it your self save a few pounds and have a better knowledge for next time

I bet that the shop will also want to put it back to standard to get it running correctly. Ideally you want to use a two stroke tuner / specialist so that they understand the issue and can both diagnose and then solve it.

Many shops these days might not have as much knowledge of two strokes as one was the norm 🙂

@vtrn_raptor no no no we don't mean buying original exhaust ect we mean to put the carb and a few other bits if you have them back to standard and honestly we understand you don't have a clue at the end of the day it's your bike and your choice but you would really benefit from doing it your self and save money at the same time really it easy just looks hard pal just throw some pics up mate it could be an easy fix you just don't know how it works yet

Is he really saving any money though? I mean if he's spent 2.5k on it and still not solved it, then obviously he's just throwing money away.

Second that though, most shops are going to return it to stock trim to fix it.

I can't see it being anything particularly difficult.

@calum the bike runs sounds like he been playing with it so it not chewing itself to bits on the inside considering he been redlining on a stand so the bike should be an easy fix in my opinion 2.5k tho @vtrn_raptor I could buy a few dt125r's for that just make a new thread call it the 2.5k black hole and start from scratch give us the bike details in the description ie year, model and any mods don't focus on a symptom yet just get some pics up

Could be a conflict between old generators and new CDI's (for example) but with that amount of money being spent on it chances are its now something relatively simple

I do however appreciate how frustrating these problems can be at time and how you want to murder someone when you've taken a carb apart 58 times 😉

@vtrn_raptor Sounds like it's running rich. Is it sooty? Could be too much oil.

Two strokes don't have too much compression.

@vtrn_raptor really start from scratch your only confusing your self more it does sound like your running rich like @Calum said but I would not say that as you have still not put a picture of the plug up or taken a video and it could and most likely is too much fuel and that's why I said to run the bike for 10 sec's and take a picture as your descriptions are bad but considering that your at least trying I will tell and show you the differents alt text
